We were here for a couple's weekend trip to Strasbourg and enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The service was very friendly. The reception ist located in the first floor. Despite usually nobody being at the reception desk, someone always immediately was there. Check-in and -out went very smoothly and the staff was very friendly. At our check-in, we were assigned a room in the 8th floor but the electricity wasn't working there. We immediately got a new room though in the 7th floor that had a view over the canal.
The rooms are fairly small but cozy and well equipped. However, we were confused about the light switch situation but we kind of figured it out during the stay. The rooms don't have a mini bar but there is a "club" area in the hotel that is accessible around the clock with the room key. There you can get snacks, water, juices, tea and coffee for free that you can consume there or in the room, which we found better than having a mini bar. Personal highlight for me: the club has a Happy Hour from 18.30–20.00 o'clock clock where you get a free drink and a little plate of local specialties to try.
There are "fountains" on every floor where you can get filtered drinking water. The hotel is also equipped with a small sauna that we tried out during the stay. Turning it on was very easy and after we had returned to our rooms to get changed, the sauna had already heated up enough to use. You are, however, required to wear a bathing suite in the sauna. There was no chill out area at the sauna but there are lockers to put away your things and a shower to cool down. We chilled on a little bench in the sauna area between "rounds" and went up to our rooms to relax afterwards.
We slept very well in the hotel. We found the bed and the sheets very comfortable and the curtains made the room very dark. One night, there was music coming from a bar nearby but with the windows closed, we didn't hear anything and with the A/C we still were able to cool down the room at night.
Only thing we were not sure about, was how comfortable we'd feel sharing the room with other people than partners. The way the bathroom is constructed you can kinda see inside it when someone is on the toilet or taking a shower. I guess the design made the room feel a bit larger but you'd have to maybe find a workaround depending on how close you are with the person you are staying with.
We were very happy with the location of the hotel. It's not right in the center of the city but there is a tram stop right in front of the hotel. The Grand Île is only a few stops away by tram but we also enjoyed the walk there a few times. The hotel lies directly next to a canal which was nice for evening walks. There are also many shopping and dining options nearby.
All in all the hotel, which belongs to a chain, fulfilled our expectations (especially for the low price we paid), we had a very nice time and wouldn't hesitate to stay...
Read moreI really wish I could give this hotel a 5-star review, but... well you'll see in the cons why not.
Pros of the hotel: *The staff is very nice, especially at the reception. *The concept of the hotel is superb. I loved the Club area with food and drinks that are included in the price of the room. The club itself is spacious and is a great area especially for those who need to work. There is water (sparkling and none), coffee from a machine and soft drinks for free. The small free pastries - cookies and some cake - are very delicious. They also offer food and drinks for a price. The club makes you feel like it's some kind of an exclusive thing, like those frequent flier lounges in airports (even though every hotel guest has access). *The rooms look great - the unique design makes it a distinct experience. It does not look like your cookie-cutter every-other-hotel-room. One flaw in the design though is the see-through bathroom. It's nice, but if you're staying with a friend or someone who you're not very intimate with, then it is awkward as you can see the person when they're sitting on the toilet... *The location is great. There's a tram right outside and it can take you to the old town in a few stops. There are a few lunch/dining options around as well. *Noise insulation - my most important criteria - is superb. We were staying in the 8th floor so no noise from the outside. We didn't hear anything from other rooms, so I assume that the hotel is built with noise cancelling in mind. The doors are thick, so little noise comes from the corridor. *The soap and shampoo are very nice - nice bottles and super nice smelling. The linen sheets is a great choice, loved them. And they have two pillows - square and longer one, so you can choose which one you prefer for the night.
Cons of the hotel: *Cleanliness is very very lacking. It was clear that the room was dusted for days. The table had some stains and the safe had some kind of chocolate stains on it. We stayed two nights so staff came to clean one day but they changed sheets and towels and did not clean anything. *The spiders! I don't expect that the outside would be super cleaned on the eighth floor, but the small metal patio was FILLED with spider webs and huge spiders. They couldn't get in but it was creepy and anyone with arachnophobia wouldn't be able to stay there. Also, we found a spider web inside with a tiny spider, so again cleanliness is very lacking.
I think it's a superb hotel especially for those going on a business trip - it has a gym, and the club is great if you don't want to work inside your room.
I hope they improve their cleanliness.
I would stay in an OKKO hotel in a different city and I hope they expand...
Read moreThe service is really good and the staffs are trying to assist you as much as possible. We like the common space where you can access to play pool, work and enjoy the free aperitif with some drinks before dinner. If you prefer alcohol then you can order through the staff and the bill can be added to your room number.
We stayed on 5th floor but started off with really bad impression as the hallway has very very bad smell. Luckily, we didn’t smell anything when we entered the room otherwise it would be a nightmare.
The room decoration is quite cute. It’s simple but functional. The room is not that big but we feel enough space for two of us. The room is clean and in bathroom, they provide the soap and shampoo. Due to the design, you can see your partner in the bathroom from the small seat next to bed and also from the bed. Well, not only see but you can hear everything. It’s quite funny for both of us as we didn’t really mind this kind of thing. But you might need to make sure that you are close enough to the person you gonna stay with.
The room is well isolated so it’s really warm but they don’t have good ventilation. So we woke up in the middle of the night as there was not enough air. We just open the window a bit for some fresh air and we had good night sleep after. We did the same for our second night, unfortunately there were people shouting outside until quite late but that’s not what hotel staffs can control. So it could be a problem for people who had light sleep. But
The location is perfect as it’s only a few mins walks from the cinema parking to the hotel and half min walk to the tram stop. We always use tram C,E to go to the city. Walking in to the city is a good distance on nice day as well. If you park the car at the cinema parking, don’t forget to ask the staff at the hotel as you can receive the discount ticket from them. We receive about 7€ discount from the ticket they provided us....
