Hotel Motel One Köln-Altstadt — Hotel in Cologne

A very nice hotel with an even nicer service. Excellent for business trips, or short family stays. Rooms are on the smaller/cozier side, but modern and we'll equipped. Beds are comfy with rather soft mattresses. Bathrooms are decent, have a fresh look, even though minimalistic the ambiente is quite nice.

The food is ok, can get boring if you stay more than 2-3 days as breakfasts is the same everyday. No warm meals besides hard-boiled eggs.

The bar has a modern look with top focus on Gin. Wine lovers have very few choices ie. Just two red wines if I'm not mistsken. Beer and liquor selection an is decent, but again gin is the dominant offering with a few dozen gin based cocktails on the menu.

I'd definitely come back as the front desk service and reception are very helpful and the rooms are quiet, fresh and modern.

One negative - no phones in rooms, so I wasn't able to call someone in their room when their phone died. Not sure about wake up service either, but overall a...

Excellent hotel for the price. Great location. Plenty of parking. Helpful staff. Hotel is modern and clean. Rooms are big enough for two adults. Not spacious but plenty of space to lay out suitcases. There is a small desk in the room. No appliances. Lots of outlets. Good lighting. Bathroom is nice with good counter space. Hairdryer provided is very nice. Aircon AC doesn’t get very cool but it might have been faulty for our room. Fortunately it was not very hot when we visited and sleeping with the window open was sufficient. Note that this area is not very quiet. Lounge and reception area is nice to relax in and has free coffee. Breakfast was fine, a little variety some vegan and vegetarian options available. The bread and jams were very good. Parking was easy. They have a section of a large parking garage. The hotel is good, the forniture and design is really nice. The price- quality relation I think is much better than hotels closest to the markets. The bar is really nice, the decoration is involving, the bar tender is good at the attention and the cocktails and the music is relaxing. However I found the environment "oldish" me and my couple couldn't maintain a conversation with other guests since the middle age was 60s, so we found a little bit difficult to socialize even at the bar. Even it's only 25 minutes walking from the cathedral, with luggage and winter cold, turns the things a little bit difficult, net time I will stay in a closer location. The room service does not speaks English so to explain something like you don't want the room cleaning service at the moment but in 5 minutes will be ready... Impossible.
