Bed’n Budget Cityhostel Hannover appears to straddle the awkward line between youth hostel and low-budget hotel. The building was located a comfortable 10-minute walk from the main train station, minutes from the centre of Hannover with shops, restaurants and attractions. The ground floor features the reception desk, small bar for hot and cold drinks and a lounge area of tables and small chairs on one side of the room, while the breakfast tables and a large-screen television fill the other.||||I stayed in a key-access mixed dorm on the fifth floor, with no lift. The room had two bunk beds and two single beds side-by-side, with powerpoint/s, a light and shelf beside each bed, and linen inc. towels laid ready on each bed. There was also an open shelving unit with two small safes, a small table with two chairs and a television. One of the windows had a lovely view towards the Town Hall and a church. All three rooms on the fifth floor shared two small, single-gendered bathrooms featuring one toilet, two sinks with lights and powerpoints and two showers with clear doors and no vestibule.||||Wifi costs 5 euros for 24 hours (not sure whether that’s consecutive or not, I didn’t use it) and the hot & cold buffet breakfast was 9.50 euros a day. There was no guest kitchen, but according to reception a microwave and kettle are available on request All in all, it was a nice enough hostel, but in my opinion the expenditure was directed towards luxuries not needed in a youth hostel (free towels, TVs in the rooms) while charging (and overcharging) for the important things like wifi, breakfast and lockable lockers for the rooms. Personally I would look for a different accommodation option when next...
Read moreThis hostel has a nice atmosphere and is close to the city centre. The Hauptbahnhof is perhaps only a 10 minute walk, there is an Edeka within 5 minutes and several bars and restaurants nearby. The staff were pleasant, the room was fine and the price was good for what it is. The hostel bar didn't have much ambience and was expensive, but the barstaff were friendly.||On the downside, the boy's bathroom on my floor was out of order so I had to go down a floor or two each time to use the toilet/shower. The bathrooms were both quite smelly and the shower cubicles all needed a good scrub. The only thing that was beneficial about them being a bit grimy is that this made them translucent rather than completely transparent. There's also no where to dry yourself apart from in the bathroom, right in front of the door.|The lack of a communal kitchen was also quite annoying, but I knew this when booking.||I would stay again as the price and the location...
Read moreThis hostel has a good central location, easy to walk to from Hannover Central Station. Checking in was easy as the staff both spoke English.||||Our room was towards the back of the hostel, but there was quite a bit of noise during the night just from doors opening and closing – which should be something that the hostel sort out, as it just need some sort of soft closing on the doors to prevent the banging.||||We had to make our own beds, which is common in hostels, so wasn’t a problem. Towels and soap were provided and we had an ensuite room.||||There was an option to pay extra for breakfast, but we choose to by some food instead, which I think worked out cheaper. There was a bar in the reception, although that closed early, with other bars over the street open later.||||I’d stay here again, the price was ok for a hostel and we got what we would expect from this level of...
