This in neither a normal hotel nor a boutique hotel, but a 2-star B&B or Pension or Hotel Garni at best. There is no “star” qualification nowhere to be found so it is down to what the owners say on all the websites. A sign over the front door says “Pension”, a much more correct description. ||There is no one present for check-in after 17.30h and over lunch time. There is no lift, so you must carry your cases up the stairs to the first or second floor yourself!||We booked what was offered as a “luxury room with view of the Danube” but got quite a small and very basic room, without a cupboard to hang trousers or dresses, just some shelves. The few pieces of furniture looked like Salvation Army second hand recycled stuff, nothing luxury at all, looking cheap and used, and unpractical to use. There is also no stand for a suitcase, so we had to leave it open on the floor, further blocking the little available space. There is indeed a small window overlooking the Danube, but not much of a view||The desk was so small and cluttered with a large kettle and “tea making facilities” that my laptop almost didn’t fit. The tea was a selection of fruit infusions, no real tea at all.||There are no power outlets next to the bed. I had to dive under the desk to use a spare outlet of the extension cord to charge my phone. I had to use the same extension cord to power my laptop.||The room was not made up after the first night.||Wi-fi did not work well or not at all at times.||Two things stood out in the room: a very big standing mirror in a gilded picture frame and a big LCD TV. These items must have cost 2 or 3 times as much as the rest of the furniture.||The bathroom is very, very simple, small and dark. The small mirror, the size of an A4 sheet, has a huge frame around it. The washing bassin is also small, the size you find in a pub’s toilet. Impossible to fill the kettle under the tap. A narrow wooden lattice box serves as a side table, just big enough to put your razor and toothpaste and a plastic plotted plant. The shower is a simple square shower in a glass enclosure, nothing fancy.||The unique selling points of the hotel are its location and the 3 private parking spaces in front. All the rest is below standard for the price asked, € 125 per night without breakfast, parking cost extra.||At the checkout we formulated our disappointment with the quality of the establishment compared with the selling arguments on the website. We were told that it in the owner’s opinion this was a a boutique hotel, whereas we experienced boutique hotels everywhere else as really luxurious and beautifully finished. And if we wanted the room to be made up in the morning, we had to hang out the sign. Everywhere else in the world the rooms are made up unless you hang out the sign “do not disturb” ….||I advise the owners to find another description for the hotel if they want to avoid disappointing more customers...
Read moreThe hotel is very centrally located and very modern and stylish furnished. The rooms are clean and comfortable, we stayed in a Standard room with street view and I was a bit afraid that the room might be very small, but it was very nice and definitely large enough for our 1-night-stay. The building itself is a bit elder, and there is no lift which might be a bit exhausting when you are staying in the 2nd floor and have to get your luggage up and down... ||breakfast is served on the ground floor and they offer a very good a la carte breakfast, so you can choose between different options like vegetarian, healthy, sweet or salty and coffee is served unlimited. ||Besides the fact that the mattrasses are extremely hard and not very comfortable, we really liked the style and furniture of the hotel a lot. But what I must say is that I have to agree with other ratings here that it shouldn't really be called "hotel" - "bed and breakfast" would be a better name for it, since they only offer very limited service; reception for example is only available in the morning and afternoon, but not in the evening or during lunch time. Also the outside sign says "Pension" (=guesthouse) and not hotel, so this might be a bit confusing... another thing why we decided to only give 3 points was the staff and their behaviour: ||first of all you do not really recognize who of them is a staff member and who is a guest: they do not have a uniform or at least a t-shirt or a name tag or whatsoever, neither in the breakfast area, nor the cleaning or reception staff... and unfortunately none of them was ever smiling or greeting properly, and this is something we do at least expect when staying in a small hotel: friendliness, personalized service and the feeling of being welcome! So all in all a nice experience but not lived up to our expectations of a Boutique hotel...
Read moreLocation of this hotel is great and stuff is friendly. Sadly that’s the only good points I have for them. Bed was super uncomfortable as every turn and the whole bed moves so you partner is awoken. Bed also has sharp edges, I hurt my foot. There are screws protruding on the table, right above your head when sleeping. Nightmare! We had a breakfast in the hotel, just for the convenience and they have bizarre way of three types breakfast: sweet - only marmalades, nougat cream and fruit, classic- ham, salami, cheese, or granola third choice. Plus side, they have gluten free bread, but it was given in the same basket with regular. Cross contamination and...
