First floor has particularly good exhibits. Limited options for English speakers. Exhibits only displayed in German. Affordable audio guide available but provided for only very limited exhibits.
Experience largely spoilt by inhospitable staff. Our quiet respectful family was followed very closely by staff checking our every step. Made to feel very unwelcome. I have a foot injury and stopped at a chair for one short minute to rest before continuing. A staff member rudely gestured for me to move on without discussion or compassion for the pain I was clearly in.
None of the staff talked with any of our German speaking party. No effort or pride was shown by staff in discussing exhibits. Only obvious and invasive policing.
It’s disappoint they don’t understand the best way to protect their exhibits is to engage their customers and share their love of history. Museums must evolve to survive. Basic human values should...
Read moreWe were pleasantly surprised by the Historisches Museum Regensburg! The exhibits on the ancient Roman, Celtic, and early medieval periods were absolutely fascinating, offering a deep and well-presented look into the region’s rich history. History enthusiasts will especially appreciate the museum’s detailed displays and well-curated artifacts.
A special mention to the kind lady at the ticket counter, who was incredibly welcoming and professional, making our visit even more enjoyable. The museum café was another unexpected delight! The food was delicious, well-priced, and far exceeded our expectations.
Overall, we highly recommend this museum to anyone with an interest in history. We would gladly return! Visited...
Read moreVelice pěkné muzeum na okraji historického centra Regensburgu. V expozici najdete pro Evropu poměrně typickou sbírku artefaktů z doby kamenné, mnohem zajímavější nálezy z římského osídlení v této oblasti a řadu sakrálních obrazů a soch.
Very nice historical museum on the edge of the historical center of Regensburg. The exposition contains many typical artefacts from the stone age Europe, much more interesting are findings from the Roman settlement of the area and middle age sacral art in higher floors. For me, very interesting are the models of middle age city, fortification or the old bridge and surrounding buildings. Also the interier of the museum is worth of seeing, as it is placed in the former closer, and even the church is part of the exposition. If you are hungry, there is a very nice cofeteria in the museum, in nice weather with outside sitting in the claustrum. The only problem might be the fact that all descriptions are only in german, no english can be found (maybe they have audioguide in the recption, I didn't...
