My husband and I, sadly, only spent one night here in the Superior Double room with balcony; that one night was a highlight of our 7 week trip. When checking in we were warmly greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and a share platter before being personally shown to our room. The room was very spacious and very clean (there is a circular staircase in the entry that leads to a second spacious bedroom and bathroom). A fresh fruit basket was happily received and as requested our room overlooked the lake where we were able to watch a late night thunderstorm coming from the south over Lake Constance. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has a large window that you could open up to see the vineyards nearby. The toiletries were of a high standard and the water pressure excellent.|We had dinner in the restaurant and were extremely pleased with the service, the meals and the wine (as advised by our waiter). My husband especially enjoyed the steak tartare which was prepared with skill at our table.|Breakfast was included and it rates up there with the best buffet breakfast I have ever had (indeed the best in our trip), so much variety and very fresh. |The staff every where were attentive and efficient, with a warm smile to greet you|I congratulate the management on the high standard evident here and for employing people who make your guests feel so welcomed.|Very much appreciated was being able to leave our hire car on site and our perishables in the hotel after checkout whilst we went to Mainau Island.||A must do is the 20 minute ferry trip to Mainau Island to see the Residence, botanical gardens, zoo, butterfly house. I was fortunate to visit when the vast amount of peonies (my favourite) were in bloom and this was a sight to behold as were the ginormous trees. We did not get a chance to visit the Castle Meersburg but did enjoy an Aperol Spritz in the courtyard in the afternoon after walking around the cobblestone streets.|We will one day come back to this lovely place and will most definitely stay at Romantik Hotel...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for the Memorial Day weekend in 2017. Our main destination was to visit Mainau (Flower Island). We chose a double room. It was clean, with a lanai and direct access to the hotel garden. The room was very quiet and we never saw the housekeeping staff come or go. Parking at the hotel cost 12 Euros for our 4-Day stay. The reception at the hotel was outstanding! We arrived around 2:00PM and were presented with a lovely array of refreshing drinks, cheeses, olives, & nuts as we waited for our room to be ready. The receptionist spoke great English and was very helpful in offering sites for us to visit in Meersburg and the location of the Ferry stop, The ferry stop was only a 5-minute walk from the hotel which was perfect for our trip over to Mainau Island. The hotel had to restaurants, an expensive one, and a more expensive one. The cuisine was quite delicious, but I'm sure that the only difference between the two was that the more pricey restaurant had tablecloths and the expensive one did not. They did offer a 3- and 4-course daily menu option that lessened the sting a bit on your purse. The hotel did not have its own pool, but the Lido was directly across the street and the hotel provided coupons for entry. The absolute best part of this stay was enjoying breakfast and dinner on the restaurant patio with the Bodensee and the Swiss Alps in the background. It is absolutely our favorite region of...
Read moreFirst time in Meersburg and what an experience. As soon as we walked through the doors, we knew it was a great place to stay. We met Barbara who checked us in and presented two glasses of sparkling wine with some nibbles. Unfortunately, I didn't pay enough attention to the glass table the tray was placed on which was actually two different levels and promptly smashed both glasses onto the floor. Yep, deeply embarrassing even though my partner was laughing her head off. I tried to start cleaning it up but Barbara asked the cleaner to step in (many thanks to the cleaner). Still totally embarrassed, Barbara laughed it off and fetched two fresh glasses. Room was lovely and had a balcony overlooking Bodensee. Room size was large and clean. Breakfast was fantastic and massive, we couldn't eat the whole lot but everything was catered for. They even fetched my partner a birthday cake which was a complete surprise!
As it was out of season, we had no problem parking in the car park and the hotel was quiet.
Massive thanks to Barbara and the cleaner as well as the man in charge of the breakfasts. Apologies again for the...
