WOW!! This was the perfect example of not judging the book by its cover. From outside, it looks like any other low rise building which you could drive past 100 times without even noticing it. Once you're inside, its a different story altogether. We had the Acropolis view deluxe suite. It was absolutely stunning. It is infact even better than what the pictures show. The view of the Acropolis is simply stunning, and in the night its just breath taking. The style in which the room is done, is like a complete apartment. Its got its own small kitchen area, with a propper size fridge, a sink, cabinets with crockery cutlery. The bathroom is great, with separate wc, sink and shower areas. The room has everything you could possibly imagine. USB chargers, control airconditioning, pillows, tv etc etc. just on the side of this building is a small, takeaway food place, which some have found to be disturbing. However, we had absolutely no issue with this whatsoever. There was no noise, no disturbance, no issues at all. ||||This owners are architects, and you can see that they have used all their fantastic architectural/ creative ability to transform this building into this lovely creation.||||Breakfast: in the reviews I saw that it was a boxed breakfast. I thought it would be your basic boxed quality. But this "Boxed" breakfast is something else. This is delivered to your room, so you can enjoy it on your own dining table. And the quality is absolutely top class. There are 3 choices, all of which are extremely delicious and healthy... would recommend trying all 3. ||||Location: This hotel is not in the center. but not more than a 10-12 min walk to the plaka and monistriaki area. The drive is not more than 5-6 mins max. Hence, the location was good. There are some restaurants and some super markets 2-3 mins walk away. ||||SERVICE: This has to be the nicest bunch of people I have ever seen. Nothing was too much to ask for. Every request was met with a smile, and a YES. Everyone from Giannis (owner) , Dimitra, Irene, Spiros, and all the others that I may have missed, are absolutely wonderful.||||I will 100% be back here, and would HIGHLY recommend this hotel...

Read moreWe knew when we booked our stay at Monastic Living in Athens that it was an exceptional hotel by the reviews we read but we had no idea how truly jaw-droping it was going to be. We arrived and were met in the lobby by our friendly host John. He personally escorted us to our room and showed us the ammenities.
Our room was AMAZING! I rarely write reviews for where we stay, but I've never stayed in a hotel that was near PERFECT! I've traveled the world for over 50 years and have stayed in some of the best hotels; the Oberoi Mena House in Cairo (the old palace), The Ritz Carlton - several locations, the Fairmont in SF, the Taj in London, and many more. Monastic Living outdid them all -- the design and beauty of the entire hotel was aesthetically perfect. From the moment you enter, you see antiquities and antiques decorating the walls hallways and lobby. Our room was filled with art pieces that were both interesting and felt right in place.
Our room was perfectly clean, with super-fast wifi, strong water pressure, a 65" (165cm) tv, Fender sound system, a king-sized bed, two-zone QUIET air conditioning system; and our room even came with an atrium jacuzzi tub! The main window displayed a spectacular view of the Acropolis and Parthenon.
Monastic Living is a cross between a high-end hotel and your dream home. The rooms (kitchenette, bathroom, shower, living room and atrium all felt like we were in a home. The attention to detail was very much noticable -- the soaps and lotions, the towels, extra toothbrushes, and Nespresso coffee in the room all made for a very comfortable stay.
There are a lot of choices to stay while visiting Athens, but do yourself a favor and create a lifetime memory by staying...
