The Hermes 3-Star Hotel is a picturesque once-in-a-lifetime MUST-SEE view, idyllic, family-run feel hotel with breathtaking views overlooking the various heights of the mountainous range and surrounding waterways and bodies of water.
It is situated on quite a central street in the village of the ancient once-upon-a-time center of the Greek world, Delphi, among many other businesses and hotels with, of course, the walkable distance among other places of interest. The Hermes has a lovely wooden interior and beautiful marble floors, and balcony rail detailing.
The service from the staff was excellent, and it was not an overcrowded check-in or check-out experience. There is also complimentary breakfast offered, starting at 7:30 am - and despite it being a 3-star hotel, the selection was full of variety, both Greek and continental style. As with the rooms, the restaurant of the hotel where breakfast is served offers the same postcard-like views, so you can get to enjoy a small morning meal while taking in the atmosphere of the small village of Delphi. There is a balcony stretching out from the restaurant, where you can dine in the open air, likely in warmer temperatures.
It is also important to mention that inside the Hermes Hotel is a small shop selling items of clothing for both men and women, and small and large souvenir merchandise. For those staying at the hotel, there is a discount. Worthwhile to mention the reception staff speaks French, along with English and Greek, so everyone has an opportunity to...
Read moreI think this hotel trades on its views really, and provides the most basic amenities. Friendly and helpful staff are present most of the time. We stayed in the room that is shown with the dark timber bed head and the brocade bedspread. The bed kept sliding away from wall so we kept losing the pillows between. Bedsheets were clean but the light coverlet and bedspread stank. Musty smell and looked unwashed as per the curtains. It’s quite cool and drizzly this spring so the room with no floor rugs was quite cold. Didn’t try air con for heating as very old and as the bar fridge was gritty and mouldy, we didn’t dare turn the air con on for heating. Radiators in the room don’t work. Hot water temperamental. Noisy rooms, there was a loud family next door we could hear all their arguing and phones ringing. It would probably be ok in summer months but in cooler weather it’s just not very warm and you don’t feel like snuggling in a bed that smells musty. No tea or coffee or kettle in rooms but we asked and the lovely reservations manager did provide one for us. Breakfast is extensive with lot more sweet food than most Greek continental breakfasts. I don’t mind a basic value room at all generally but I feel this was even overpriced considering a lot of other accommodation venues. Just a good clean and provide better heating might suffice. Can’t really recommend it much unless you need a short...
Read moreI had booked the hotel to stay for 31 of December until 2nd of January on Airbnb. After TWO weeks from the day I had booked the hotel and the hotel had confirmed my reservation on Airbnb and I payed the full price for those days, I get call from them saying I neeed to cancel the reservation and that the hotel is closed during winter. Expect they had a cancellation policy on airbnb where if I cancelled I wouldn’t get a refund for the money I had payed. I tried to explain that to them and they wouldn’t listen. Instead they were being super rude saying that I should cancel, saying exactly “what is it that you don’t understand we are closed, if you don’t cancel you can come and have no place to stay on New Year’s Eve” . Despite my efforts to explain to them that I just wanted to make sure I get my refund, they did absolutely nothing to help resolve the situation. All they said to me was that they couldn’t help and that I should get in contact with Airbnbs platform. Luckily Airbnb helped me get my money back, but it was after I had to explain the hole situation to them. I think that this behavior on behalf of the hotel is completely unprofessional. Like why would you have available open dates if the hotel is closed !!! And if someone books for those dates it is your mistake you should try to contact the Airbnb platform to solve the problem, not...
