Greece has some great hotels, but this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I was on a study abroad trip during the winter, and while visiting Delphi, my group and I stayed at this hotel, except I didn't quite stay. This hotel was so bad that my tour guide moved me from this hotel to the one across the street—Hotel Varonos, a great hotel to stay at in Delphi. Upon arriving at the hotel, I stepped in vomit amid all the chaos of unloading luggage. After I stepped in it and reported it to the front desk. It wasn't cleaned for over an hour.
When I got to my room, my roommate and I were greeted by a single bed, not two beds pushed together, just one bed. We obviously were promised two, just as the rest of my group received. My tour guide talked to the hotel staff, who hardly spoke English by the way, and they said that I would get a new room in 45 minutes when the owner arrives. After an hour-and-a-half, a staff member comes up to add another bed to the room, and he realizes it won't fit into this cramped room. Obviously not! Apparently, the chair I was sitting on was a futon, the worst one I have ever seen. He set it up, and stuffed a mattress on top of it. I contact my tour guide again to say that we should get a refund for the room. After coming to my room, she could tell that this was completely unacceptable and that the owner had lied to her, saying that everything was perfect, misleading her into thinking I got my own room. My troubles were ended when my wonderful tour guide moved me to the hotel across the street where I had an excellent stay.
P.S. I should also mention that everyone complained of how hot the hotel was. It was really bad.
Zeus surely was unhappy with this...
Read moreI wish every hotel in Europe was more like this one. The beds and pillows are so comfortable and the bathroom is small but modern and clean |Efficiently designed. The AC worked really well and was a very quiet wall unit that was self controlled. +++|There is a small elevator but it works great and from the third floor we had a nice view of the valley just beyond a terracotta roof |Breakfast was tidy and clean with multiple options including a hard boiled egg. We loved the yogurt and honey and warm breads. |We loved the location. Just a stroll down hill to the archeological site and museum. Many excellent restaurants and cute shops along the way ++|Staff was friendly and capable of helping us in English ++|Beware :|The only negative for us was parking. Most people arrive to this city by bus so it won’t matter We however had a rental car and parking only option is along the street, first come first serve. We circled the town multiple times to finally score a spot and then of course, you don’t want to move it. |There are several hotels at the edge of the valley for twice the expense -|We found this a...
Read moreThe hotel is okay. Facilities were functional and the location is good - most things within easy walking distance. In early June, the temperature can be a little warm in the afternoon and that was the case when our group of 51 people arrived. None of the in-room air conditioners were working. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told that all of the units were turned off for maintenance and would not be turned on at all that day. The maintenance was described as "changing the filters". Obviously this was a lie. It would not be necessary to turn off a unit to change a filter and even if this was the case, there would be no need to turn off all the individual room units at once. I actually would have been fine with, "We have not turned them on for the season quite yet in order to conserve energy and expense. It will cool off quickly after sunset." The units were never turned on during our stay. There are several hotels in Delphi to choose from. I recommend that you avoid staying in one like this where the staff is...
