We didn't know it wasn't traditional moussaka, but the Turkish style with tomato and little or no bechamel sauce. While it was still nice and the portion size was generous, it's just not mossaka for us.
Note after owners comment
The owner claims this is a typical moussaka. This is my 6th time in Greece, I've been to the mainland before and the islands. This isn't typical moussaka. For information purposes, I've included four pictures of moussaka I've had on this trip.
When you look moussaka with tomoato, it comes with this: What is the difference between Turkish and Greek moussaka?
What is the difference between Turkish and Greek Moussaka? Greek Moussaka is made with layers of aubergine and/or potatoes, tomatoey meat sauce, and then finished with a layer of cheesy béchamel sauce. Turkish Musakka has only layers of aubergine and tomatoey meat sauce with no béchamel sauce added.
While Moussaka is Greek, variants do exist. Like this one with tomato sauce (for some reason).
Original resumes
Aside from that, the Dolma and stuffed peppers were nice. Greek salad was fine, but could've done with the cucumbers pealed and less oil (very minor gripes that), was still tasty.
Service was quick, staff pleasant, good views, reasonable prices. They did provide olives and free fruit, which was a nice addition on their part.
In short, if you don't want to have a traditional moussaka, then they do everything else well. I've had many a moussaka and each one varies some what and I don't mind changing up a recipe, but that...
Read moreThe olive oil, the oil, the oil! I will get to that later on! We didn’t look at reviews for this wonderful taverna …. We were trying our luck and I had just mentioned to my daughter.. look at all the flash restaurants that are empty, when we heard the sounds of people eating and having fun, we look around and saw George at the front door calling us over with the words “your Greek! Come and eat here!” He was right, Aussie Greeks wanting real Greek food, I had a quick look at what was on the plates of the customers, big servings of fresh food! We went in ..best decision so far ..apart from hotel Orpheus ..value hotel! The wonderful Antodetta served us and we had a Greek salad and order the mixed grill. When the huge and very fresh salad arrived it looked light on the dressing, strange for Greeks, I looked for oil on the table, found it, smelt it and poured some on the plate and my daughter and I dipped bread into it and immediately asked, we’re did you get this oil from? Wow, as good as my grandfathers who grew his own olives and made his own oil! We smashed the salad, a mistake as when a platter that could feed 4 people of the best sausage I have had in greece, best chicken souvlaki, lamb, genuine keftethedes or beeftekia, rissoles Greek style on a bed of chips which had soaked up all the flavours of the meat, came… it defeated us … but what a feed! Add dips on the side bread yogurt etc… genuine Greek food ..this place and the Greek hospitality are the real deal ..that’s why it has so many good reviews.. and...
Read moreThere are better restaurants in Delphi. We were seated by a waitress who looked annoyed as we walked in, we were not offered any water, waited about 25 mins to have our order taken, waited another 15 minutes to have wine brought to us without any water, and waited another 30 minutes to receive our food. Not sure what we did to the waitress but she took orders of people who came in after us before she took our order. The people who came in after us also received their food before we did. The waitress informed us that they didn’t have a large number of items available on the menu and came to tell us, after taking our order, that they didn’t have one of the dishes we initially ordered. We almost left after waiting for so long and being treated like an annoying burden by the waitress. It was definitely a weird experience - there are many other nice restaurants who were welcoming to us, I’m not sure why this one has such high reviews.
Edit to respond to owner: Your response to negative reviews are unhinged. Perhaps, instead of insulting the customers who have taken the time to provide you with feedback, you can learn from the feedback and improve your restaurant...
