First and foremost, From the moment we arrived it did not feel and look like a 4star hotel.
We arrived late evening/morning at 1am.
The first impression we got, from checking in with a gentleman at the reception desk was not positive.
We noticed TIP JARS literally everywhere (which looked really cheap in my opinion)
The gentleman who checked us in notified us that their was a mistake on their system about how many people were coming.. instead of 3 they though 2 people were coming. He went upstairs twice to deal with the room whilst we waited downstairs.
We were not offered any food or drinks apon arrival even though we had the All Inclusive deal. (And we noticed other guests did).
We were given 1 key amongst 3 of us and were told if we want a second key we should pay.
Our holiday mood completely went away by this point and just wanted to sleep. The gentleman at reception did not escort us or direct us to our room.. we were made to find the room ourselves.
Once we arrived at our room we noticed it was dusty, dirty, and messy and we made our way downstairs and confronted the gentleman stating we were not happy. As the cleaners don't arrive untill the next morning at 11am there's nothing he could do. We also had to ask about meal timings which were not given to us and only then he remembered to give us some piece of documents with important information.
It states FREE WIFI on the website and on their hotel walls.. but I can confirm the WiFi only covers the reception area and slightly towards the lounge area.. it does not reach further then that.. if you want free WiFi throughout the hotel you will need to PAY!
Whilst making our way back up to our room the gentleman at reception gave us a bottle of water and made it known that if we want more bottles we will have to pay as the hotel only provides free glass of water at the bar and restaurant which you cannot take back up to your room. Bottles of water are not included in the All Exclusive deal.
The next morning we woke up we all had allergic reactions from the dust.
Our first experience at breakfast wasn't great.. there was not much variety and the eggs were made messy and poor.. we did not enjoy it at all.
Throughout the day we noticed the hotel was not big at all and there was elderly/retirement people everywhere. So if you're young this may not be the right place for you.
There was no music at the pool only when an instructor was doing water activities with the elderly.
In the evening we smelled a dirty toilet smell throughout the whole bar area and lounge and I can confirm this smell was there every single night till the day we left.. so not sure what the cause for that was but they never fixed it or tried fixing it.
Dinner wasn't all that great and again not much variety as they were serving the same stuff every evening. There was HAM/PORK in pretty much everything including some of the salads.
One evening one of us wasnt feeling too good and had puked on the bed covers and floor.. the next morning we asked the cleaners to kindly clean our room and we apologized for the mess.. when we returned to our room we noticed there was brown stains on the pillow covers and sheets from the puke. So the sheets weren't changed.
On our last night the air-conditioning stopped working for the whole hotel.. we demanding for some explanation and the lady at the desk kept saying it's not her fault.. I kindly asked if they could provide a cold bottle of water as we were sweating and hot. The lady replied "BUY IT FROM THE BAR". this kind of unacceptable attitude was definitely it 4star and we demanded to speak to the manager only to find out HE DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH AT ALL.
CAN I POINT OUT A POSTIVE - THE RESTAURANT/BAR STAFF WERE AMAZING AND FRIENDLY AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO GIVE US A 5STAR EXPERIENCE.
So overall, NO I would not recommend this hotel at all.. Poor food Boring environment rude front desk staff All inclusive bar ends at 11pm No water bottle included in all inclusive No free WiFi throughout the hotel. no sightseeing...
Read moreFor my first holiday without my parents and with my boyfriend, it was average. The food, hotel room and staff (excluding Christiana who was lovely) were all average. Overall I had a good stay here. However I would definitely not recommend it to young couples going on holiday as the area is quite restricted and there is little to none entertainment of an evening.
On our second full day, we were both sitting on sunbeds by the main pool. The weather was really windy (which is no ones fault) and it had caused the loosely-fitted umbrella that was placed in between me and my boyfriend to fly away. My boyfriend went to go and get it and placed it back while notifying the lifeguard that the umbrella is really lose, the lifeguard did not do anything - he said that it will be fine. However it was not. Another strong gust of wind lifted it up into the air and instead of making it fly away it harshly dropped the steel and heavy umbrella onto my head causing a cut/graze which has created a scar on my forehead that I will now have for a very long time…
Had the lifeguard fixed the issue or even bolted the umbrella to the floor in the first place, this would not have happened. When this incident happened the lifeguard was not down by the pool, instead he was up at the bar on his phone with the bar staff. Luckily, the guests next to us were really kind and helped me to soothe my injury. When I went to report this incident to the front desk, the lady with short, brown hair with glasses was lovely. She offered me some cream to help heal it and to compensate she offered us free wifi for the room, a bottle of wine and some sweets. Days after she kept asking if I was okay, she was lovely. However the manager was not so much. When she called the manager over to tell her about what had happened she came over to us in a defensive manner whilst going on to say that, “these things happen” and “they can’t control the weather”. I agree that they cannot control the weather, however they surely are aware of the weather conditions in that part of the island and so why are there no measures put in place to make sure that things like this don’t happen? Also, these things don’t just happen!
They’re lucky that this didn’t happen to a baby or an elderly person as the personal injury could’ve...
Read moreNow called Iolida Hotel after being refurbished this year. Situated on the main local bus route to Corfu Town, 2 buses per hour both ways 2.5euros. Our rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard, clean towels daily, and a few bars receptionist. I would say 80% are Frenh tourists to this hotel as the animation team are French. The food choice was well above what you'd expect at a tui 3 star rated hotel, my only gripe was it was never red hot(I used the microwave as I like my food piping hot). Only 1 bar on an evening ,when the female staff were on alone or together it wasn't uncommon for them to just bugger off for a smoke, you often felt you were an hindrance to them(they would regularly take personal calls or face time there boyfriends). The pool is locked until 10am so no need to be up early, there are some sunbeds on the paved area if you want to use early. Bus stop right outside hotel entrance next door is a nice wine bar serves perfectly chilled glass of serviong and a large beer 10euros. A small shop on site but cheaper supermarket at the side of the wine bar. If you walk past the malibu beach club, there are a few beach bars with evening entertainment. During the day, you can get 2 sunbeds a brolly for around 10 euros. If you turn left out of the hotel, a steady 20-minute stroll, there are several tavernas and a few bars. All in a all a very good hotel but not ideal if you struggle walking as it is a very steep slope from the entrance to...
