It's a 2-star hotel so one shouldn't expect much. We really appreciated that the room was clean and there was a friendly receptionist when we checked-in/out (it was late at night both times) though, the sound insulation was really bad, the furniture definitely need to be renewed, and the floor in our room had a broken tile causing us to trip every time. I would have given a 4/5 rating if it wasn't for the way we were treated on our last day there. The day before we checked-out we were on a wedding event when someone from reception called us (several times) to ask in an aggressive tone where we were, when we were going to come back, and threatened us that if we were not back by check-out time they were going to call the police. We definitely didn't appreciate the way they spoke to us, as if we had done something wrong or violated some rule, which was not the case. They also tried to get the money for the room without my consent with a method other than the one it was initially agreed. At our check-out we informed the receptionist how unhappy we were about all this and he mentioned that there were some recent incidences that people would stay there and leave without paying. Though I understand they are extra cautious with people paying their room, that shouldn't affect other costumers and if they are not happy with the policy of paying at check-out then I would suggest they don't give it as an option at all. It was my worst hotel-stay experience and next time I am at Chania I will definitely pick another...
Read moreWe had one of the recently renovated rooms, and were very impressed, it felt more like a 4-star room than 2-star. The shower was one of the best I've seen in a hotel room of any class with a tall rain-style head, three horizontal sprayers, and a hand wand,. though the rain-style head was already starting to clog and I suspect it's too much shower for the local water pressure. And the shower doors sealed mostly, but were coming off the tracks. The free parking under the hotel was ample and very convenient. It's located back from the waterfront, but is only a short walk away and convenient to get to/from the main tourist areas. The easy parking and driving access more than makes up for a few minutes longer walk to the harbor. We had difficulty communicating with the staff when we checked in and asked for a 2nd key so we could separate yet both get back into the room (they refused to give us 2 keys, though did give us a old non-working key to keep the AC running while we were gone). We later realized we were supposed to leave our room key at the front desk whenever we left (uncommon in the US, but standard practice in Greece) which would have made the need for a...
Read moreWhen entering the hotel with reservation from booking dot com, we were "greeted" by a very annoyed person who gave us the distinct impression we were disturbing him, instead of welcoming us.
All in all we got checked in, and went with the elevator to our room. The room numbers and all have fancy electronic displays.
We had some issues with the room, but with a short chat with the manager they were immedeately resolved. They take customer satisfaction seriously.
The hotel itself is just a few minutes walk from the bustling town center and has an underground parking lot. Also there is a movie theater next door and a small. Kiosk across the street.
The breakfast is nice, you go to the fifth floor and they make a table for you. You get ham cheese toasties, boiled egg, bisquits, croissants, coffee and more, and a gorgeous view...
