Review of our lovely 7 night stay at Indigo Inn Casa:
-Room: very basic but did the job! We didn’t have a room with a balcony or facing the sun but I’m sure you could ask to be upgraded if that’s what you’d prefer. Shower is very small and water gets all over the bathroom. We had a hairdryer included but heard from another guest that they didn’t have one in their room, so may not be for all. The cleaner came and cleaned daily and refreshed towels every second day (sometimes daily!). As the other reviews say, the rooms aren’t sound proofed and you can hear everything quite clearly from outside and from your neighbours but that didn’t bother us much. Beds are comfy and a good size. There isn’t very good lighting in the room if you aren’t in a room that faces the sun, the lights are very dim.
-Food: not the largest selection but what is there is good and satisfying. For dinner there is always a choice of meat, fish, and pasta and then alongside this is cold meats, cheese, bread with a plethora of dips/spreads, a variety of salads, fresh and/or roasted veg, potatoes/chips, sometimes rice, there was pizza one night and for desserts always fresh fruit and a variety of cakes, chocolates and puddings. Sometimes you have to wait a little while for things to be restocked, as there isn’t much selection and the top choices go quite quickly. There is less variety for breakfast, it isn’t changed much but there is always eggs, mushrooms, beans, sausages, bacon, hash browns, pancakes or french toast, selection of cold meats, cheese, vegetables, bread, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit. There are some pastries and cakes too but these are very small and usually quite dry. We didn’t have lunch at the hotel but there were a variety of options, such as club sandwiches and salads and they looked great. The only real let down we’d say is the drinks service at dinner, which is why we gave the 3*. Unfortunately, it was very slow every night- we often had to call to get somebody’s attention to even ask for water (which you have to pay for) and drinks were often forgotten. Occasionally, the card machine would lose connection and stop working also, which would delay things further. As the drinks are the only aspect that is not self service, we believed this process should have been a lot smoother and quicker. We often left if we wanted drinks and went to a nearby bar instead.
-The hotel is in a prime location- just a stones throw distance to various shops, restaurants, bars and the beach. There are 4 pools, 1 main and 3 smaller. Sun beds are only around €10 euro at the local beaches. There are sufficient sun beds around the pools but people of course claim them early, like most places. The gym is decent- dumbbells (only up to 25kg), cable machine, a squat rack, various cardio machines and a couple of benches. Free WiFi throughout. The interior design is lovely, very boho-like with all neutral colours and wooden beams. Only complaint really, which staff can’t help, is some guests were smoking weed and you could smell it at various points in the day. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. We felt safe in the hotel and had a lovely stay. If we were visiting Hersonissos again, I would definitely consider coming back to Indigo Inn Casa and would...
Read moreWhy anyone would rate this as a 4-star hotel is beyond me. I’ve traveled extensively, staying in countless hotels, resorts, and inns, but this was by far the worst stay I’ve ever had.
To start, we couldn’t even find the place because there’s another hotel with the exact same name right next to it. Once we finally arrived, we had to wait an unreasonably long time to check in since there was only one person at the front desk handling everything.
The real nightmare, however, was the room. We booked the luxe superior room with pool view—there was nothing “luxe” or “superior” about it. The room was tiny, dirty, and even had mold on the wall. The bathroom didn’t have a proper shower, so after using it, the entire bathroom was drenched. The so-called balcony was laughable—barely enough space for two people to stand, let alone sit.
Housekeeping was a complete joke. They didn’t actually clean the room—just half-heartedly made the bed, dropped off what they claimed were “fresh” towels, and left. One day, the towel they left behind was actually dirty, with toothpaste stains and black hairs on it—an impossibility since both of us are blond. When I went to the front desk to complain, I was met with nothing but arrogance. To make matters worse, they couldn’t even provide proper replacement towels and instead handed us pool towels. The shower was never cleaned, the toilet was ignored, and they didn’t even bother to replenish the toilet paper.
The pools were equally disappointing. While one pool looked nice, it was always overcrowded with nowhere to sit or relax. The other three pools were disgusting—covered in algae, filled with leaves, and surrounded by ants and insects. The noise from crickets around the pool area was unbearable.
Dining was another disaster. When you book half board, drinks aren’t even included. Service was painfully slow, whether getting seated or simply ordering a drink. The food was bland, repetitive, and uninspired. Bread wasn’t fresh, pasta and rice dishes lacked flavor, and the options were extremely limited—especially for vegetarians. Breakfast was the least terrible meal, but even then the juices were warm and the bread and croissants were stale.
Poolside service was laughable. They insisted you scan QR codes to order food and drinks, but none of them worked, forcing you to go directly to the bar. Even then, expect to wait a very long time for your order.
We stayed for five nights, and honestly, even that was too long. For €850, this was a complete rip-off. I’ve stayed at far better places for much less. Save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and money—go anywhere...
Read moreI was quite disappointed with this hotel and really don’t understand why it gets so many 5-star reviews.
While the breakfast was nice with plenty of choice, the dinner buffet was very underwhelming — far fewer options than I’ve experienced at other hotels. The selection lacked variety, with many of the same meat dishes served each night and not enough salads or alternative options. I really wish we had only booked bed and breakfast. The food was lukewarm and some of it was cold.
Another issue was paying for drinks during dinner. Each time, there was a long wait to settle the bill because the card machine never seemed to work properly, likely due to poor signal. After experiencing this a few times, we avoided ordering drinks altogether for the rest of our stay. Frankly, I think a bottle of water should at least be included with dinner. Also, the restaurant seemed to lack basic items like salt and pepper pots and sugar/sweeteners — quite a few times there were none on our table.
On the positive side, the lunch menu (paid separately) was actually very good.
Our first room was a disappointment — ground floor with a dark patio view and a strong smell of cat urine. We asked to move and were given a first-floor room with a nicer balcony and better light. We were told this was an ‘upgrade’ to a deluxe room, but aside from the balcony, it seemed identical to the previous one — so not sure what made it “deluxe.” The room decor was pleasant but basic; something as simple as a picture on the wall would improve it. The bed was made daily, but surfaces in the bathroom and around the desk were not cleaned during our stay. There is no wardrobe just a few hangers! So I could not unpack my things. The shower has no curtain or glass so the water goes everywhere. Worst room I have ever stayed in.
One major shock: the hotel has no lift! You have to carry your luggage up many stairs, which is really inconvenient.
In the evenings, the hotel really lacked atmosphere. There was no bar open and no music — it felt flat and lifeless. I don’t understand why the hotel wouldn’t run a bar, especially given its great location. This was a shame, as we would have liked to stay in and enjoy a drink at the hotel bar on our last night.
That said, the location is great — right on the main street with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. The pool area is also very nice, and we never had trouble finding a sunbed.
Overall, I found the hotel very basic and in need of improvement. With a few changes, it could be so much better — but as it stands, I...
