We stayed at the Nana Golden Beach in June 2025 and it’s one of the best resorts we have been to in Europe so far. There were some blips along the way, but the hotel rectified this quickly and we can’t thank them enough.||TRANSFER|We booked a transfer via the hotel and when we arrived, it wasn’t there. After waiting for some time, we called the hotel and they were able to chase this up for us. It was €50 each way and my one-year-old was given a child seat. It’s worth noting that when coming out of the airport that they there are incredibly steep quite slippery slopes to get to the car park.||ROOMS|With two adults, a three-year-old and a one-year-old we opted for a two bedroom two bathroom royal suite. As lovely as the suite was I noticed several drain flies in the rooms. Staff were notified and sprayed the room but after explaining what type of flies these were I was immediately told to wait for them to speak to reservations. Within a few minutes, we were told that we would be moving rooms. Initially, I was concerned as I believed we booked one of the biggest rooms in the hotel, but I was told that we were actually being moved to one of the best rooms. Upon arrival, this was correct.||The upgrade was unbelievable! Full kitchen, full Seaview, dressing room, large bedroom lovely bathroom all done within 20 mins and not a fly in sight. ||CLEANLINESS|The apartment was flawless. Whenever we arrived back to the room it was spotless, the fridge and snacks replenished, fresh towels (and I am very picky) ||POOL AREA|There are 7 pols here and we visited 3 of them. The splash park was great for the kids. We always found sun loungers and we are not early risers. We were getting to the pool for around 10/10:30. The main pool is busier but again we managed to get sun loungers for all of us. ||WATERPARK |What a fantastic feature for both adults and children. We spent the whole day there and once again it was not busy. I think because there was so many pools and a private beach you have a lot of choice so the areas aren’t crowded. My kids loved the slides and the big ones are so much fun.||BEACH |The private beach was a lovely touch to the hotel. It is quite small however for the kids it was perfect. If you want to sun lounger at the front you may have to get up a bit earlier but once again we were able to find sun lounges easily. If you have small children, I suggest you bring a small blowup paddling pool and fill that up with water. It will keep them entertained for hours along with some toys to play in the sand. There was a snack and drinks bars located a short walking distance from the beach. There were also lots of water sports there.||ENTERTAINMENT|We enjoyed the entertainment every day it was so varied and there was something for everybody. Our holiday was based around the mini disco which is at 8 o’clock. This was perfect for us coming from the UK as the time difference meant it was after the kids dinner. My daughter was on the stage dancing with the staff every night and they did a great job of getting all the kids up and moving as well as the parents. My daughter was even able to take part in a show and was awarded a certificate for her participation. Little things like this really made the kids feel special.||There was an acrobatic pirate show, the fire show was unbelievable and my one-year-old loved it. Our favourite show was the Drifters tribute show. The vocals were amazing and everybody was up dancing on the stage. It was one giant party. There is also live music every night at the seafront bar.||DINING|Unfortunately, the one restaurant we wanted to book for (Azzuro) was completely booked up even though we attempted to book as soon as we arrived. After that, they were only inconvenient times for us to eat so this was quite disappointing. However, the food in the main restaurant (Artemis) was more than adequate. Varied every night with a huge selection of savoury food and desert. The chicken gyros is unbelievable! Both my one year old and three year old had a good variety of food.||As we had a seafront room we also got to have breakfast at Thalassa which was lovely. Sitting out but the sea over breakfast; was wonderful.||Also during the day there are snack bars open so when the main restaurant closes there is always somewhere to eat and it’s not just chicken nuggets and chips there are mini buffets, chicken gyros, waffles, crisps and sweet treats you’ll never go hungry. ||Whilst the hotel doesn’t offer room service, you are able to take food up to your room. There was one morning where the kids were lying in and breakfast was due to close so I was able to take some plates of food up to our room and we just had our breakfast on the balcony. Our apartment was only a short walk from the main restaurant.||STAFF|I think this is what really made the hotel. I’ve never been somewhere where customer service has been consistently excellent. Every single staff member greets, you smiles, asks if you need assistance. The speed at which our room issue was rectified speaks volumes. I was looking for an iron and randomly asked a staff member. Within minutes I was taken to a room and given an iron. Walking around if you needed water, someone would automatically bring you water. Lying by the pool at the beach people walking around offering you snacks. It really was oustanding.||Special mention to Maria at Thalassa. She was so attentive despite the restaurant being busy and was so lovely to my kids. ||Carmen and Froso in Artemis are fantastic with the kids. Always dancing with my daughter and taking the time to chat to us. I really hope management read these reviews and acknowledge the staff members as it’s because of them that our experience was so special. ||We do like to go to different places but we are strongly considering coming...
Read moreThis is an outstanding resort with the best staff we have meet on many years of travels.
11/10 for the resort, staff and management.
Let me indulge you further, on this occasion we were on a very last minute( night before booking ) half-term break for 2 adults and 3 under 12’s as we fancied a bit of sun. We booked via TUI after looking at few resorts and choose Nana Golden despite knowing the weather was not going to be normal for Crete( it was cloudy and rained on and off but when the sun came out you were thankful for endless pools and sunbeds to relax on)
We, a family of 5 in the early hours and were checked in promptly. We were provided with two garden rooms that were immaculate, spotless and with the crispest linen, comfy bed and pillows we have seen in a holiday resort in many a year.
Next morning we asked reception if they could provide a family suite as we didn't want two seperate rooms. We were promptly shown two options which didn't quiet fit but Eva and team pulled a family suite with two bedrooms out the bag for us which was totally fantastic.
The room rooms are lovely, large comfy beds with pillow toppers, soft pillows and option of firm if you require it, tons of towels, loads of toiletries and great aircon that really works. You have a fridge, smart TV and hair dryers. There really is nothing more you could ask for in each room.
The all inclusive includes international premium spirits which you may think may result in some high spirits was not the case, this is a very family and refined resort, we didn’t see anyone that had overindulged. Plenty of lovely friendly families all chatting and laughing away over a coffee or cocktail.
So onto the food which was food excellent in all restaurants.
Main restaurant is vast with lots of covers and happy staff willing to help. Fresh ground coffee and tea, lots of red and white wine available not just house. Food was fresh cooked on open kitchens, very tasty and varied. There is also gluten free station so covers all tastes.
Our 3 little ones never went hungry between breakfast and dinner and despite trying my best to be good and not over indulging there were a few temptations that took my fancy for cheat meals 😁 The fresh fruit, salad and fish options were vast. Lots of meat, pasta and vegetarian options too.
We dinned in Asian, Greek and Italian each were lovely but very limited choice for kids if they don’t like colourful food, ours loved eating grown up meals and pizzas in the Italian weed yummy( take a blazer or shawl if dining there as it can get sea breeze)
Download the app on checking to book or head to the booking station at reception, do it on day of arrival as they get busy. One point of note was lack of Greek kebabs, my kids love a chunky chicken or lamb kebab but we didn’t see any which was rather surprising.
I loved the endless supply of beach towels as a family, it meant we did not need to worry about these. Each day you nip down to one of the pools and pick up lovely fresh fluffy towels and just pop them in the towel bins when done. A total godsend for everyone especially if you have kids in and out water.
Did I mention the abundance of pools and sunbeds, the hotel is large and so many pools you are never short of beds, this is not a 6am reserve your bed place, staff don't allow it and you don't need it as there are so many pools. People move around between them.
The main pool is the busiest but within 20 yards you have another pool with bar/food/bubble bath/ kids pool that is quiet. You also have beach, and in 100 yards next to the outstanding tennis club the water park( brilliant place with flames and little one's pool, bar with snaks and beer only)
The water park is fab, plenty beds and life guards, a wee cage for crepes, waffles and non alco drinks.
Next to this is the newly built tennis club with a huge adults only indoor pool( €15 per hour but they are not fussed about time you stay) amazing fully top of range gym and full range of surface courts.
At limit of google reviews so this is 11/10 , expensive...
Read moreWe arrived as a party of 9 on the second day of the resort opening for this season, the reception we received was incredible, and a warm welcome was given, immediately you get the impression this is going to be a very special holiday, the porters taking luggage to the rooms were super helpful not just on the day of arrival but throughout the stay, our first few hours walking around we were just blown away, although a little worry was not a lot was open, however, we then found out we were the first guests to arrive therefore everything was opened the next morning. The main food hall is just amazing all the staff are so friendly and they cannot do enough for you to make your stay enjoyable, the Entertainment team ( first class) and the karaoke bar - night club is the best atmosphere ever. We did have a few teething difficulties the first couple of days which I will not give a bad review as the management team was on it so quickly and could not apologise enough, I just hope they take on board the advice I gave as an experienced Chef and restaurant owner, as this would then make the private restaurants dining experience 500%. The water park is incredible and the lifeguards are the top team of guys who could not be any more friendly or efficient. Reception Staff I don't like to write this most of them amazing but unfortunately a couple of grumpy ones which you would not expect from a resort of this quality. Bar Staff what can I say apart from just purely incredible especially PELLA she is the most amazing friendly efficient bartender I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and an absolute credit to the resort, whilst we are on credits to certain members of staff YANNIS a 5-star waiter and bartender, this guy is top dollar, so on the ball and so efficient and shows huge attention to detail with everything he does, then you have GEOGEIUS another one of our daily waiters, never had to be asked for anything fully on the ball and everything always done without fuss or effort, I wanted to name these members of staff in person as I think they fully deserve credit for everything they did, other members of staff were of course very pleasant including beverage and bar manager, customer relations manager and the Italian restaurant supervisor, however, it's the 3 named above that, in my opinion, went over and beyond in the services they provided making the holiday experience first class. The onsite shop is extremely well stocked with everything you might need or have forgotten to take including souvenirs, olive oils etc, this is a lease and the only thing I didn't like about this was that the assistants don't leave you alone to look around they try to sell you everything, which you would expect from the town shops or on the seafront not from the resort shop, and I think they would sell more products if they left people to browse and choose themselves. The Jewelly shop once first-class service a lease again but a wonderful experience the mother and daughter are a great team very professional and provide exceptional service. The gym facilities are second to none, with a resident fitness trainer on site from 11 am each day he is very educating explaining how all the machinery works especially on some of the machines I've not seen before. The SPA treatments I thought were a little overpriced and I think with some clever marketing and reducing the prices a little this would certainly in my opinion generate more clients, more treatments and more revenue. The cleaning teams once again cannot fault them, very friendly the complete resort is spotless all pools and terraces are cleaned down daily each morning, and rooms cleaning daily, perfectly 100% and I will go as far to say in all the hotels I've stayed in this has got to have been the cleanest and a credit to the management team for reaching this extremely high standard of cleanliness. The beach and seafront have...
