Galaxy hotel — Hotel in Municipality of Ios

As a frequent traveller to Greece since childhood and having visited Ios many times I chose to return to the Galaxy Hotel recently as I find it best suits my needs. The rooms are very affordable, the family running it are very kind and helpful, the rooms are clean and cozy, the pool is fantastic and very quiet and the location is perfect (right near the entrance of Mylopotas beach and close to the bus stop, two mini markets, the best breakfast spot on the island - Cantina Del Mar, the best dinner spot on the island - Salt, and not far from a bakery). The only minor drawback I can think of is that the washrooms are tight versus what I’m used to in North America although that it quite normal in Greece unless you want to pay up for a fancier hotel. Had booked 3 nights here but changed my plans and left after the second night. From walking up to the reception/kitchen of the owners house to going to the room… felt completely not welcomed. The rooms smelled like cigarettes and our clothes that we left out to wear for dinner while at beach started to stink like cigarettes too. The beds are rock hard and the bathroom stinks. You can’t shower without turning the bathroom into a pool. Not worth €20 a night to stay.

Outside of that, the pool was beautiful. If they were friendlier and kept the rooms cleaner they’d attract more customers. Especially with location. But when rooms smell, and customer asks for a new towel and is scolded. They kill any...
