We have just returned from a 1 week stay on a B & B basis.||Immediately upon arrival we were made to feel welcome at this family run hotel. Check-in was friendly and efficient and our room was already prepared (arrived mid-afternoon). The friendly and personal approach continued throughout our stay and was a welcome change from the indifferent service sometimes received at larger hotels.|The room was basic but very clean with bed linen and towels changed daily. Despite some reviews, we found the beds comfortable and enjoyed a quiet nights sleep every night. There is a small fridge provided and we did find that this needed to be unplugged each night as it tended to become quite noisy. One thing to note is that although numerous tv channels are provided, it is aimed more towards the German guests with only 1 channel being in English (Nickelodeon - a cartoon channel).||Breakfast (continental) didn't provide the best choice and tended to be the same every day (apart from scrambled / fried eggs changing). However, if a continental breakfast isn't to your liking there are plenty of place to buy a full English breakfast.||For the size of the hotel, it has a very large pool with generous opening hours (8am - 8pm). Plenty of quality sun loungers are provided and we had no problems finding free ones( even if arriving late to the pool). The pool bar is excellent and provides some great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. One thing to note about the pool is that there is no easy access. Access is by metal steps attached to the side of the pool - those with mobility problems may struggle to enter and exit the pool.||Suitable for - almost everyone looking for a hassle free, quiet, relaxing break at a hotel providing friendly and personal service. Only a 5 minute walk to the nearest bars and restaurants but far enough away to ensure a good nights sleep.||Not suitable for - anyone that wants to enjoy the pool but has mobility problems or anyone (English) that likes to take a break from the sun and unwind by watching tv.||Overall, I would highly recommend a stay at Tigaki's Star where you will experience the most relaxing hassle free stay with some excellent...
Read moreJust returned from the Tigaki's Star after a really lovely holiday. The rooms were reasonably spacious and very comfortable. The air conditioning was most welcome and worked very well. We had a great view over the salt lake. Bed linen was changed several times in the week as were the towels. There was a general smell that everything had just been polished. Very nice indeed. The breakfast provided was limited but sufficient with a choice of English or Continental all buffet style. The pool is really large with sun beds all around and the whole area is kept very clean and tidy. The garden was well tended and cared for with large grassed area leading to the small church on site. The pool bar provided terrific service for snacks and drinks from 10:30 to 21:00 thereafter just drinks for as long as there were customers. The location is central for the beach and the town's shops an restaurants, both only a 10/15 minute stroll away. At our visit the hotel was full but never appeared to be crowded. There was always room round the pool. The beach was accessible from the hotel via a rear gate onto a sandy trail running by the salt lake. There were bars and restaurants close by. All of the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The location is just right, close enough for beach and nightlife, but quiet and tranquil as there is no through way for passing traffic. All of this provides a very good...
Read moreWi-Fi in the rooms is not available. If you need to connect or make a call you have to go outside of your room closer to reception. But this was not the worst part. The worst part was how the personnel treated me when I told them about the problem. One of the managers told me: that Wi-Fi was absent on the island, not only in my room (not true, because at reception it worked perfectly at any time) that they do not have to provide Wi-Fi to the guests and that the guests should be happy that the hotel does it free of charge, because they could have charged the guests for Wi-Fi additionally I asked to check my cancellation conditions but she told me to feel free to go to another hotel and that they will not refund anything although it was just my arrival day and she could have checked the options for early cancellation. This woman was just bullying me and obviously enjoying the process. The other two staff members on reception were hiding their eyes from embarrassment while listening to her. This situation ruined my impression from the hotel and unfortunately from the country in general (this was my first time in Greece, my first impression). It was such a contrast to the way I was treated in Turkiye in the hotels/restaurants just a couple of days before. I can't believe that such a rude treatment and unprofessionalism is allowed in the...
