We came here on the first leg of our honeymoon. We stayed 4 nights / 5 days. We had such an amazing experience. See some details below:
The Island (Milos): Milos is so stunning. This was my first experience with Greek islands. You always hear about Mykonos, Santorini, Crete. I’m sure those places are lovely if you want more crowds, more restaurants, more night life. If you want a slower, quieter, peaceful time, then Milos is the place for you (though, I worry the secret is out and it will become more crowded in the future). It is an easy island to drive around. Nothing is more than 10-15mins away. The people are so friendly, and the beaches are STUNNING. Sarakinikos is like nothing else on this earth. The little towns are all unique and worth exploring. I would recommend flying to Milos instead of taking the ferry. We flew. It’s a 25min flight, and super easy. We were glad we did this when we talked to another couple later in the week who took the ferry the same day we flew in, and they said their ferry took 4.5hrs, was incredibly rocky, with people throwing up everywhere. Even though it was a very windy day when we flew in, and the flight was a little bumpy, having it be over in 25mins vs 4.5hrs seems like a good deal. Take a Dramamine beforehand and you’ll be fine.
The Location of the Resort: Pollonia Milos has 3 main “towns”. Adamantas is the main port, Plaka is the capital on the hill, and Pollonia is a true fishing/beach community. Pollonia is quieter than the other 2 parts of town, and the perfect home base. It is so approachable, there are a few great restaurants & cafes along the stunning waterfront and it’s all 5min walk from Phos Milos. The hotel itself is located slightly up the hill a little removed (5min walk) from the town center, and it’s perfect. It’s so quiet and peaceful, but all the action is easily accessible. The only potential negative to call out is that Pollonia is located on the northern side of the island, and the northern side can get some pretty strong winds (the wind always comes from the North, so Pollonia is most exposed). We were very lucky, and most days were calm and beautiful while we were there.
The Hotel (Phos Milos): Incredible. The property is brand new, (I think 3yrs old), and you can tell. Everything is new, modern, & so tastefully designed. As soon as you walk in the door for check-in, you can feel your body go into “vacation mode”. The staff are incredibly friendly & helpful - this is a family owned and operated business. They truly want you to enjoy your stay at the hotel, and on the island as a whole. Alex will likely run your check in process, and he is fantastic. He provides many recommendations for food and activities. We tried all of Alex’s recommendations, and he does not lead you astray - every place he suggests is fantastic. He will also give you his number upon check-in in case you should ever have any issues. It’s important to remember you’re on an island, and sometimes things don’t work like they do on the mainland. One evening we noticed the water in our room wasn’t working. We texted Alex, and in less than 2mins everything was running again. This is a testament to how much the staff cares.
The room itself is stunning. We actually spent one day just lounging around & reading on different patios and couches, or along our plunge pool, just enjoying the room. We’ve been blessed to travel many places. I’d be hard pressed to name a room we’ve enjoyed more than Phos Milos.
Last shootout for Phos Milos goes to the hotel dog, Arthur. You’ll see him roaming about and enjoying his island lifestyle. He’s such a good boy. Please...
Read moreMy husband and I spent 5 days in Milos as the first stop of our honeymoon, and we decided to stay in Pollonia since we wanted a quieter and more laid back environment for our stay. We were incredibly spoiled by choosing to stay at Phos Milos.
From the moment you walk into Phos Milos, you immediately feel relaxed. The time and attention the owner Alex dedicates to the guests really makes you feel like you’re staying with family. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and had help with our luggage. The owner’s dog Arthur even comes to greet you.
During the check in process, Alex provided a number of restaurant and activity recommendations. We were able to try many of the ones on his list, and they were ALL fantastic. Our favorites included Alestia (where we had coffee and pies every morning), Enalion (great seafood), and Nostos (which was in Adamantas, but blew us away so we actually ate there twice during our Milos stay). He also gave us a map of the island and pointed out the best spots and beaches on the island.
We absolutely loved our room - which was large enough it’s likely better described as an apartment. It had a living room, a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a bedroom, and 3 balconies (each with sea views). It was very clean, comfortable, spacious, airy, with incredible natural light, and smelled so good. We also discovered what became our favorite rose wine in the mini bar, which was only 6 euros for a small bottle that we helped ourselves to every day. They clean the room, restock the mini bar, and provide fresh bath towels daily. They will also provide beach towels upon request.
As for the town, Pollonia is very cute and quaint. We much preferred it over Adamantas, although the main city was just a short 13 minute drive away. Although you need a car in Milos (which the hotel helped recommend a rental company and provided a discount code for us), Pollonia is very walkable. The location of the hotel was very convenient as the main strip with most of the restaurants was just 10 minutes walk away. We loved exploring all the little nooks and crannies of the town. Everyone we encountered, especially the locals, were very nice and welcoming. We visited in early May and were fortunate that the crowds were much smaller. At times it felt like we had the town mostly to ourselves, and it was easy to get a table at every restaurant.
Luckily, the weather was perfect for almost each day of our stay. Pollonia being on the north side of the island can experience very strong winds. We only experienced these strong winds on our first day, but all the outdoor spaces of the restaurants were well designed and equipped to shield you from most of the wind so you’re still able to enjoy yourself.
Although we still have much of Greece to explore, the stunningly beautiful island, the food, and the people are more than enough to convince us to come back soon. And when we do - we’re certainly staying at Phos...

Alex the owner: friendly, helpful, informative and incredibly hospitable. He is a born host and did everything to help us feel welcomed with all the information we could need. He took ample of time to let us in on hidden gems on the island and had a full guide of restaurants and must dos with Google Map links and all the details that go with it.
The room: we had the Jr Suite with private pool. It was huge. We had 2 full bathrooms and the living area was massive. Tonnes of space to spread out and be comfortable. The bed was heavenly and the showers were brilliant.
Location: it’s 5 mins walking to Pollonia “center” which is literally a 100m stretch of restaurants and eateries with a few shops and tour offices. It was a beautiful 15 min drive to the port and Plaka which was always pleasant with winding roads that would open to panoramic views of the ocean. Best part was, after the day was done we got to come back to the quiet area of Pollonia and just be in the little corner of this buzzing island.
Alex, thank you so much for everything while we were there. You were really an incredible host and we truly appreciated your hospitality.
This hotel is built with insane attention to detail. The finishings and the build quality are top notch and you feel like you’re in a really luxury home staying as a guest of a friend.
Highly recommended and if we ever do venture to Milos again, we wouldn’t consider staying...
