This is a town within a castle. It is very rustic and beautiful inside the castle walls. We were met by the owner, Ersi, at the entrance to the castle. She had someone there to take our luggage to our room. This was great because the inside paths are very old and rocky, everything you would expect from an ancient castle. Ersi took us to our room and explained everything about the history and renovations. Our room was three stories with a bedroom and bathroom on the bottom floor, a kitchen, living room, and bathroom on the second floor (entrance), and a bedroom and balcony on the top floor. The air conditioning worked great and Ersi had fruits, wine, and water in the refrigerator for us (extra waters on the counter). It also had high speed wifi which worked great, most of the time. (For some reason, we had an issue with it in the mornings but the owner came right over to check it out.) There are great views from the upstairs balcony and I even flew my drone from there. We loved our rooms and the entire town/experience. Upon our departure, Ersi presented us with a great bottle of local olive oil. She is one of the nicest and most accommodating owner’s/hostesses we have met in our...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place. We were excited at the idea of staying inside the castle walls. This property did not disappoint. We had the two bedroom which is quite large. It’s really a fully equipped apartment. We were provided a bottle of wine and also fruits and a local almond treat. It has two balconies, and each has a view of the city and the sea. The host is wonderful. We were concerned because there is no parking since the house is inside the castle walls. No problem. We emailed and were told to call shortly before our arrival. We were met at the gate to unload any luggage and then our host followed me in the car to park and take me back to the gate. When we left, she met us again at the gate and even offered to buy us coffee before we left. I had seen some travelers on booking.com complain a little about the WiFi. The room does have WiFi. Perhaps it is not the strongest or fastest, but it is comparable to what I experience in many places. It is strongest in the living room area. Perhaps a stronger WiFi enhancer could benefit, but we did not have an inconvenience, even when I was working from the computer. I hope to stay there again. Some pictures of the room and the view from...
Read moreThe House in the Castle is delightful! I have never slept in a lovelier room in my life! A very comfortable bed, windows out to the sea with sea breezes, and incredible peacefulness! Our balcony that overlooked the sea was beyond compare! Chrisoula, the owner was very kind and helpful with everything. She gave us cookies, fruit and spinach pies and also a large bottle of her family's own olive oil! The kitchen is well equipped and the living area downstairs was very comfortable with a door to the balcony for sea breezes. A few things to be aware of in this beautifully remodeled apartment: It is a very very old building so the bathroom is quite cramped. If you are a larger person you may find it uncomfortable. Also, the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom downstairs. The stairs are steep and made of stone. We suggested to Chrisoula that a handrail for the stairs would be a very beneficial addition. Anyone with mobility issues would find the climb up and down quite difficult but we got the sense that Chrisoula plans to have a railing installed. I would not hesitate to return and actually plan to do so in the...
