Read moreOur stay at Amazon Mykonos was magnificent. We would recommend it without any hesitation.
The service, suite, food and location were all 5/5 for us. For context, we are a young couple who enjoy relaxing 5* holidays with tasty food, stunning views and reliable service. Amazon delivers on all fronts.
Amazon's staff are extremely friendly and helpful. No ask is too big (or too small). Special mentions to (1) Christina, the hostess/front desk manager for breakfast and for the hotel's Flavour restaurant - who is polite, friendly, attentive and capably manages guests' happiness levels and (2) Vasilis, the hotel manager, who is the most responsive and efficient hotel concierge/manager we have come across (having stayed in many 5* hotels around the world). Vasilis typically responds/actions WhatsApp messages in under 60 seconds (no exaggeration), whether that be arranging taxis, room service, extra toiletries, restaurant reservations, etc.
We stayed in an infinity pool suite, with a large verandah, ample sized pool and breathtaking views of the ocean and island - and of the Mykonian sunset, to boot! The suite itself was spacious, with a large bed and his-and-hers sinks. The shower room was large, with a powerful, waterfall ceiling shower. We stayed in a different infinity pool suite for our first night, with a slightly obstructed view of the ocean, and it is testament to how thoughtful and accommodating the staff are that we were able to move to a different suite right on the oceanfront, from our second night onwards.
The food is very, very good. My partner and I are vegetarian, so tend to be limited in our meal choices. With that in mind, the hotel's breakfast buffet options are remarkably varied (for carnivores and vegetarians alike), with the usual hot breakfast options (eggs done however you like, bacon, sausage, baked potatoes etc), together with fruits, salads, bagels, pancakes, fresh juices, hot and cold coffees/teas and a whole host of dips, spreads, pastries, desserts and Greek/local Mykonian cuisine - to name just a few. You will most certainly be spoiled for choice.
The restaurant staff (led by Christina) found out it was my birthday one morning, and so provided cake and candles and sang to me. This is typical of the staff's general attentiveness and desire to ensure their guests feel valued. An additional mention to Spiros in this respect, who clears tables like a ninja with a permanent smile etched on his face. We visited a host of other 5* hotels and resorts across the island - yet the service at these other locations paled in comparison to Amazon.
The hotel's Flavour restaurant offers incredible and expansive ocean views. It has intimate tables for dining, each well-spaced and separated by billowing curtains which add to the high-end, bohemian vibe. The daytime room service menu is also quite varied, and the staff tend to be very efficient, friendly and accommodating of food and drink requests.
Our treatments at the spa (2 massages/aromatherapy) were very good, and Olga in particular is very professional, with soft hands and a good knowledge/explanation of how each treatment benefits different parts of the body.
If we were being exceedingly nitpicky, the only improvements for the hotel might be to (1) have a larger/better-equipped gym (it has machines such as a treadmill, rower and stepper, together with a bench, dumbbells and cable machine - but little else) and (2) have adjustable temperatures for the suites' private infinity pools (which tend to run cold). These are just our personal preferences though, and definitely not a criticism!
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay, with outstanding staff, beautiful views and delicious food.
We'll stay here again in future....
Read moreAbsolutely amazing location. I was a little nervous on the way from the airport, especially once I realized that Mykonos is basically all rocks and sand. You’d think I did the research before I paid all that money to stay at a five star resort…
Well, I didn’t. I just saw that all the cool people on Instagram were going to Mykonos so I figured I had to go as well because there MUST be something special happening there.
And to some degree that’s true. But to what degree, you’ll have to find out on your own.
Now, back to the resort. The views are mind numbing. I’m telling you, it’s insane. When we walked into our room and I stepped out on the terrace I nearly passed out. Got all lightheaded like IS THIS REAL??? I live in NYC where unless you’re a billionaire your views are generally gross. So the feeling was magnified. But I kid you not, the views at Amazon are probably one of the best on the entire island. And I would know because I visited all the cool places (that I saw on Instagram) and only a few of them match up with what you’ll see out your window at this resort.
The staff is amazing. Ultra helpful. Always polite and ready to assist. I seriously caught myself wondering on a few occasions while lounging by the pool about how much effort it must take to always be that nice. I literally want to vomit after saying good morning to ANYONE at work. These folks deserve some sort of a humanitarian award for powering through life like that. But in all seriousness, I truly felt taken care of first-class-style at this place.
I must give a special shoutout to Giorgos and Vasilina in the kitchen. Absolutely AMAZING both of them. Always making sure you're happy, always smiling, always making you feel welcome, making you feel like a whole person who deserves to vacation from time to time. They also know what’s tasty and won’t hide it from you. At dinner Giorgos gave me a dessert recommendation worthy of a standing ovation. At breakfast Vasilina showed me this magical Greek cake that I proceeded to religiously shovel into myself every single morning until we left. A+ for these two. Long live Vasilina and Giorgos.
To sum it all up, if you’re going to Mykonos, stay at this resort. I will warn you though that another thing I found out once I got to the island is that this is the ONLY Greek island that has nonstop winds 365 days a year. So - just saying - there’s always Santorini or Crete or a whole bunch of other islands scattered all over the Aegean sea...
Nevertheless, if you ARE going to be Insta-basic like me and go to Mykonos, Amazon is a winning bet. (Not affiliated with Jeff Bezos’ Amazon. Not a stock...
