Disclaimer: I have worked for major hotel corporations over the last 15 years. Having spent over 1.000 nights in hotel rooms across the World, I may have a different perspective than other travelers.||||However, on this specific occasion, I just need to issue a travel WARNING to anybody who is considering staying at Eleftheria Studios in Mykonos, Greece. On our trip to Mykonos, we were looking for an affordable accommodation in the area of Ornos that would be clean and centrally located. The studio apartments by Elefheria seemed to meet this criteria, judging by the photos, this was a good choice. Little did we know...||||When we checked in, we got a warm welcome and were asked to pay cash for our stay. To anybody who has never stayed in Greece, this usually means that the hotel owner doesn't want to pay taxes (so I would have never accepted this anyway).||||As digital nomads, we require internet to send emails and work. The internet at this facility is absolutely useless and upstream speeds of 0.001 Mbps make you wonder how they can even dare to advertise internet being available. You hardly get a signal and while I understand Mykonos has generally a slow internet connection, this was simply false advertising, we couldn't even send a whatsapp message, to give you a feel...||||However, the most important thing to us is cleanliness. When we saw the bathroom, we thought this could be a concern. After the first attempt to shower we knew: this was a complete nightmare. The shower was splashing all over the place, including the toilet. There is a reason they don't post the pictures of their bathrooms online, let me show you why (see pictures). When we asked to have his fixed (at 5pm), we were told "yes, but the next day". We were fuming when we saw the owners sitting on their patio the same evening enjoying some wine while we were told we could only be assisted the following morning and couldn't even have a shower...||||The apartment featured a mini-kitchen with the basics missing (no toaster, no coffee machine, just a water boiler and a small electric stove, together with a fridge from the 90s. The really bad thing however was that when we took cutlery from the drawer, there were remainders of food on them. The same with pans and pots, it was disgusting to say the least.||||Don't get me wrong, as an industry professional, I know that you get what you pay for. However, with regards to cleanliness, there is just no compromise one should make, whether you travel 5 star or on a budget!||||After one night we decided we needed to leave. It took as another day to find an alternative and when we wanted to check out at 09.30 am the next morning, there was nobody at the reception. We left the keys in the room and I sent them an email two hours later advising them that we had decided to check out and were willing to pay the two nights (despite everything)... I even attached the pictures I am sharing in this review to make them understand why we left...||||They responded they would charge us the entire stay (and they did, I am having the charges reversed right now).||||In conclusion, if this terrible experience has served for anything, it should be to warn you all to never consider staying here. Mykonos is a fantastic island and if you get a car, consider staying in some nice boutique hotels in the hills for the same price, but with a much better product instead of the rip-off by...
Read moreFirst time visiting Mykonos with 2 of my friends. Perfect location, with a 24 hour bakery (really delicious!) and supermarket only a few minutes walk. Ornos beach is a 5 minute walk. Bus service running every half an hour to an from Mykonos Town (only 1.80 Euros), we used this daily and saved a lot of money as it is usually 10 Euros in a taxi one way.||||The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels. Good shower and bathroom. Nice little balcony overlooking the sea. Good Wifi connection.||||Only issue we encountered - returned from a day at the beach and the air conditioning unit had leaked on the floor. We lay down towels and called the owner of the apartments to assist. She arrived soon after I called and gave us a fan and helped mop up the water. As it was a Sunday evening there was no-one available to fix the unit, so she gave us a fan to keep cool at night. The next day we returned after a day out and the unit was fixed.||||Particular thanks to Antonia on the reception desk, who is so sweet and friendly! Very willing to help and ensuring we had what we needed and having a pleasant stay.||||Highly recommend staying here, affordable, great location, helpful staff...
Read moreWe' ve just returned from an excellent week in your studios. There were 6 people in our party and we all agreed you are to be congratulated on the warmth of your welcome, the cleanliness of your apartments ( serviced, cleaned, beds & towels changed on a daily basis) you & your families warmth, friendliness & eagerness to please. Yes one of our apartments was a little on the small side - but you did try to put this right , though in the end your rooming allocation schedule didn't allow this to happen... but hey that wasn't a major setback in the grand scheme of things. The 'positives' of these apartments taking into account the price, the facilities, the level of service etc far far outweighs the 'negatives'.Ok we might have missed a toaster.. but we had a kettle..it ain't home & we never expected it to be.... but from our perspective you could do a heck of a lot worse. |Thank you Elefteria & your daughters & family. Ryder &...
