We recently had a lovely stay in this small boutique hotel located about a 10 minute walk from Ornos village & beach. The main access is up a long gradual hill or via the back road up a very steep hill to/from Korfos beach. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Dorothy on reception who informed us of the hotel facilities and the local area. Our room was a Deluxe Suite Sea View which was slightly different in layout to the website pictures. It just about offered views over to Ornos from our balcony at the front. The rear-view window looked out to Korfos beach. It was spacious and comfortable and kept very clean throughout our stay. Our only observations of the room were that it could have done with a small chest of drawers, a longer wardrobe length to hang up long dresses and the doors to the shower and toilet opening out instead of inwards. ||The breakfast menu is rightly highly praised but it’s very filling! Not a criticism but if you would like lunch later, you found you were too full up, so I think the hotel is missing a trick here. When we did have lunch and drinks, we found they were very good and quite reasonably priced. A big thank you to Orlando on the bar and the cook in the kitchen (sorry, can’t remember her name). The pool and bar area are very relaxing and perfect for chilling out. The pool was sea water so a bit salty but very refreshing. During our stay the poolside beds were never full. Overall, though, we judged that this 3-Star establishment punches well above its weight.||It should be noted that Mykonos is very windy! Almost hair-dryer like. There is nothing on Korfos beach because its too windy for restaurants etc – you only have kite/surfers using it. The other beach (Ornos) is more sheltered and very busy. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sun bed prices are eye-watering! They all operate a tiered price system so the daily price for two beds was 90 Euros for those along the water’s edge, 80 Euros for the row behind and 70 Euros for behind them. In addition, all beds are quite close to each other as well. We weren’t aware of any offer of buying a drink or meal will get you a cheaper option. We stayed in September and it looked to us that most of the beds remained unused during our stay. ||There are a number of restaurants along Ornos beach and on the side roads in the village – I don’t think we had a bad meal during our stay. Prices were reasonably for the island and portion sizes decent. You will pay extra for beachside establishments. These were our favourites in Ornos:|• To Apomero – the best Greek restaurant – well worth the praise – we ate there three times. Booking advisable as it gets very busy during the evenings.|• Lefteris – more traditional and cheaper Greek restaurant – gets very busy (more locals than tourists) but didn’t need to pre-book. Ate there a few times.|• Appagio – around the other side of the bay (a good 20 minute walk from the hotel) – lovely waterside fish restaurant – expensive but worth a treat. Advisable to pre-book.|• Porto Ornos – another traditional Greek restaurant – a tad expensive as it overlooks the beach area. Their Kleftiko was the best ever.|• Kostantis – relaxing beachside cosmopolitan restaurant – a little bit expensive we thought but food ok.|• Farina – very nice Italian restaurant – nice food although a bit expensive, it made a nice change.||We went into Mykonos town a few times. Best go on the bus from Ornos as its only 1.80 Euro each. It’s a stunning town with a labyrinth of sidewalks, gorgeous shops, restaurants and bars. You must see the sunset at Little Venice beachside. Beware when the cruise ships come in (almost daily) as they offload hundreds of tourists at a time, so it gets crowded.||We didn’t hire a car during stay but ventured out by taxi to a winery at Mykonian Land for wine tasting and nibbles – this experience was very good. We also took the water taxi from Ornos beach out to the southern beaches (Elia, Agrari, Paradise, Paraga, Psarou) – for the first time, get the 20 Euro day-pass which allows you to hop on & off the boat at these beaches. Go to Elia beach first (about an hour away) and work your way back to Ornos. It’s the best boat trip you can do. The sunbeds are also cheaper at these beaches as well...
Read moreI’m sorry this review is rather late, as we went in May 2023, not October 2023. We only stayed two nights, and in earlier season than usual (May, before real summer crowds), so can’t speak to summer main season stays! But I would recommend this stay to pretty much almost anyone of almost any travel needs.||First, the location of Osom is a perfect Greek island combination of walkable to beaches, restaurants and food, while also just a short drive from central Mykonos and the other main party beaches. Not to mention the views are unforgettably beautiful, complete with the island goats! We didn’t have a car on this trip: So we needed to be able to request car car service — and ordering drivers through Osom’s front desk was so easy.||Not having a car while there is another reason we chose Osom: It is such a great meeting of central location, ability to coordinate drivers, but with quiet rural-feeling walkabilty too. ||The room itself, pool area and bar there (stunning!) were all so clean and updated in lovely minimalism — and the staff were all wonderful. The breakfast was as fresh and delicious as you could want on a morning on a Greek island. The quality of almost every element of Osom is great for the reasonable cost, especially in this otherwise pricey tourist destination. ||Some of the rooms may have some narrow parts and as in much of Europe hotels, don’t expect perfect TV reception. Also as with some islands, you may be asked to not flush toilet paper and instead dispose in the lidded bin (which is not uncommon!). But you’re not there to stay inside and watch TV or hangout in the bathroom — you’re there because it’s Mykonos!||It’s a truly quality, well-priced, highly convenient (and beautiful) choice for solo travel, couples, friends, or families with kids of all ages! And hope we can...
Read moreWe had a gorgeous holiday at Osom! A beautiful setting, with views across Ornos and Mykonos town. The rooms are spacious, modern and immaculate. We were impressed to find Elemis products included. The hotel has large grounds and gardens. The pool area has a chilled vibe, with good music and is well maintained. Breakfast included a varied menu, cooked fresh and you can sit outside to enjoy it. There were a variety of restaurants and bars just a short walk away. The beach is beautiful with crystal clear water. ||The downsides… The resort is on a steep hill and it can be very windy at this time of year.. The prices of food and drink at the pool bar are extortionate and are not in keeping with the town. This was a shame as it meant the bar was never busy and we didn’t eat in the hotel. We were also disappointed to be charged for an iced latte at breakfast when only filter coffee was available. We were surprised the resort is not adults only as we felt it wasn’t suited for children and the feel of the hotel. We had a late departure on our final day and were disappointed to find nowhere to shower, get changed or keep our belongings except the outdoor pool shower and toilet, this wasn’t ideal. Also be aware that the pool...
