My family and I took our first trip out of the USA and spent a week in Mykonos at the Rhenia Hotel. Honestly, it was the BEST experience and a great introduction into international travel. We felt so comfortable as soon as we arrived, and honestly it felt like home away from home.|There is a bit of a hill to walk up to the hotel so just be aware if you aren’t renting a car or means of transportation. A couple days before our arrival, Rhenia recommended an airport transportation service (Royal Luxury Transport Mykonos, also an incredible service!) so that made it easier to travel to the hotel with luggage. |When we were checking in, Alexandra was the first to greet us, and she was so welcoming! Even gave us some pointers about the island, things to do, places to visit, etc. We met some other incredible people at the hotel, and everyone was so accommodating. The views from our room were beautiful. The room was clean and there was a daily maid service so we always had clean towels, beds made, etc.|The hotel is in Tourlos and on a hill overlooking the new port. It was a quick walk down the hill to the ferry that could take you to and from Mykonos town (old port). Honestly, if you are looking to stay outside of the busy part of the island, it’s a great place to stay. |There are a couple of wonderful restaurants just down the hill from the hotel (Mathios and Molaraki) Awesome food and service! There’s also a car rental service at the bottom of the hill, which we did utilize during our stay and had a great experience. A small market is a quick walk from the car rental service, if you need drinks, snacks, etc. |There’s a small beach area just down the hill and near the port, also a pretty family oriented, quiet beach (agios stefanos , i believe) maybe 20 minutes walk from the hotel. Honestly we had everything we needed during our stay, and it was so easy to experience the rest of the island with Rhenia hotel as our home base. |We were so sad to leave at the end of our stay, but we will definitely go back to visit...
Read moreThis is a beautiful hidden gem. A small and friendly hotel with stunning views lovely genuine owners who are so friendly and helpful. Perfect location away from the hustle and bustle of town which can get busy when the cruise ships come in, but with such easy access over to Mykonos on the sea buses, only €2 each way and go every half an hour up until 6pm then on the hour until 11 pm at night, we loved these and went on them daily either in the day to wander around the amazing streets, stopping at cafes, Little Venice is gorgeous as are the Windmills,or later in the evening to eat they only take about 20 minute, it was a special part to the holiday .It is a 5 minutes walk down a steep hill from the hotel to the harbour and port where you will also find some great restaurants and a couple of small supermarkets. You can also walk left up a hill and down to a beautiful beach, you can rent thick padded sun beds with an umbrella and table for €20 a day. ||Our room was spotlessly clean with a huge king size bed which was extremely comfortable we slept so well. Read morePossibly the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in! It's so chilled out and cool. The decor nods to it's 60s heritage with lots of original features, but the bungalows and apartments have all the modern amenities you would expect. We were in bungalow 8 which arguably has the best view of the New Town Harbour. We had a small shaded terrace in the front. At first we thought we would have liked something with sunbeds but in fact we were glad of the shade after sunbathing by the pool all day. PS. They provide beach towels so no need to pack them. This is a b&b and the buffet breakfast was excellent with a selection of cooked foods, cold meats, cheese, fruit, pastries and really good coffee. There are snacks available at the pool bar, really good homemade pizzas, but if you want a sit down meal you need to go elsewhere. Luckily there are two decent restaurants a few minutes down the hill (bit of a killer walking back up!) and off course there are the Sea Taxis that get you to Mykanos Old Port in about 15 mins. Our room had an enormous bed, air con, enough storage space (although I was glad I bought extra hangers) and a mini fridge which was just big enough for water, wine and a few snacks from the local shop. Check out "Detox" which is located in the local supermarket for great coffee, smoothies, fresh juices, and some of the best salads and sandwiches, all made fresh/to order. Some cute quirky things. Keep an eye out for the baby tortoises that are sometimes in one of the planters by the pool, and the newly adopted stray ginger cat, now named Mafioso. He likes crisps but don't let him have any! The staff are all lovely and friendly, anything you need just ask. It's a family run place and it shows, we got such a warm welcome and we were so...
