From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was captivated by its elegant and contemporary ambiance, perfectly complemented by the island's breathtaking views.
As a passionate food enthusiast, I had high expectations for Zuma Mykonos, and I am thrilled to say that it exceeded every one of them. Read moreWanted to share my experience of dinner at Zuma Mykonos which was very disappointing… you would be better off going to interni or Byblos!! Booked our table months in advance for 9.30pm and arrived 15min early. Made our way to reception and they told us to wait since table wasn’t ready. Fair enough since we were early. However when it got to 9.30 we were not approached by anyone. It was getting busier and plenty of people were being seated. We approached reception desk at least 5 times to chase for our table and were told in extremely dismissive tones that we need to wait and it would be ready “in a few minutes”. Really awful treatment from reception staff considering we had booked and it just set the mood for entire evening! At around 10.10pm we were finally seated….however they decided to seat us in the bar area when we had booked a restaurant table. (To make it worse there was a 3 legged dog perched on the bar opposite us) At this point we realised our original table was given away! With the amount of people waiting in the queue (and how quick it moved) of course they gave our table away! Literally no excuse for it! When we called a manager and mentioned we wanted a restaurant table the dismissive tone continued. I mentioned complimentary cocktails wouldn’t go amiss and you would think I asked him for his kidney!! Another wait of 10min to then move again and they literally put us in the farthest corner of the restaurant where we were seated next to the bifold doors. At this point we were so hungry and ordered. Crab salad was good (although for portion size spenny), mushrooms were acceptable. However the blackened cod which they charge 60 euros for was abysmal. Cold, flavourless and not at all “blackened cod”. The lamb chops were average. Some of the dishes were bought to us with no serving cutlery, in fact we had to chase someone for our own cutlery too. Since we were seated in the farthest corner we had to wait to wave someone down. By the time we got cutlery to serve our food everything was cold! For the premium price of Zuma I would expect the crab salad to be mixed at the table for us too. Really sub par awful food!! We didn’t bother with dessert and when we got the bill we mentioned our experience to the manage Alex. His response was that he wanted us to come back so he could ensure we had a better time. We were only in Mykonos for 3 nights, we had pre made plans for every single day therefore we wouldn’t be able to amend. Even so why would we want to come back when this experience was so awful. Desserts were also offered. However why hadn’t Alex agreed to reduce something from our bill which had been over 200 euros! If he had I wouldn’t bother writing this review! I have been to Zuma in London and this brand really doesn’t match the expected standard! What a disappointment and do not bother coming here if you want good food and to be...
Read moreUrgent Concern Regarding Unacceptable Guest Experience at Zuma Mykonos
Dear Zuma Management,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the treatment my wife and I received last night at Zuma Mykonos, which does not reflect the values, standards, or legacy of the Zuma brand as I have known it for nearly two decades.
Despite having a confirmed reservation and our friends already seated at a table inside (with a significant bottle spend exceeding €2,000), we were refused entry at the door by a doorman named Vasilis. He failed to check the list, ignored our repeated explanations, and instructed us to wait outside for 45 minutes. Only after our friend took a photo from inside and escalated the matter to the general manager, who personally had to come to the door, were we finally allowed in.
This level of rudeness, arrogance, and lack of professionalism is not only unacceptable—it is damaging to the Zuma name. Vasilis made it clear that unless our friend physically came to the door to “say hello,” we would not be granted access, regardless of our reservation or appearance. This is not how loyal patrons should be treated, especially those who have helped build the brand.
As one of the original founders of Zuma Miami, and the person who personally brought American Express Centurion into the Zuma global partnership, I feel compelled to raise this issue. The experience we had was not only humiliating, but completely misaligned with the excellence and hospitality that Zuma is known for worldwide.
I urge upper management to review the guest experience protocols at Zuma Mykonos and seriously consider whether individuals like Vasilis should represent your brand at the front line. Zuma is synonymous with elegance, discretion, and exceptional service—last night’s encounter was the opposite.
Zuma guests come with expectations, not entitlement. We are drawn to Zuma because of the consistent standards and the effort made to recognize loyal clientele. I hope this message encourages reflection and swift correction, as what I experienced in Mykonos is simply not Zuma.
Sincerely, Victor Olivo Former Founding Patron – Zuma Miami Zuma Brand Advocate | AMEX Centurion...
