Everything was ok in Katerina Babis Studios: the room (no 9) was spacious and clean, there is (much needed) parking space, you have an excellent bakery just across the street, a super market at 2min walk and tavers everywhere, the beach (and bus stop) is at 50 meters away (more on that later on), the pool is clean and big enough. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The only negative about the property itself that I must mention is that wi-fi was weak (at least in our room) and that sometimes, when showering, the water got suddenly cold and then hot again. So, if we had to go backto Agios Prokopios, we would definitely stay at Katerina Babis Studios again. But I do not think we are ever going back, and this is a sad thing for me to say, as someone who has been to Naxos several times in the past 25 years. The reason is not only that everything is much too expensive now, at least for local (Greek) tourists (Katerina Babis is still good value for money though, kudos to them for not trying to squeeze easy money out of the tourists) but that the once magnificent beach of Agios Prokopios is now at 95% covered by sunbeds so closely layed out that at some spots you can't even pass between them to access the sea. Not to mention that you have to pay an average of 20 euros the set of 2 to use them, plus your order from the corresponding beach bar. If someone does not want to use to pay for a sunbed (imagine a family of 5...) or needs more space and doesn't feel like lying down at 50 cm from a completely unknown person, they must go all the way to the end of the beach where at least there is some space for people that do not think that paying for a common good is acceptable. However, we were there in July; I imagine that in August one has to be at the free part of the beach at 9am at the latest if they want ot find place to settle down. Or go to a couple of other beaches in Naxos that seem to be still free (at least they were in early July), like Plaka. Now, according to Greek law, half of the beach of Agios Prokopios should have been free of sunbeds. I wonder how is it that local authorities turn a blind eye to the situation. It all feels very corruption-like, and unless someone decides to uphold the law, we, at least, are...
Read moreI've been to this hotel four times during high season. I was traveling with my family, and all we wanted from the vacation was sun, tanning, beach and a pool. So the hotel didn't really matter to us as long as we had a decent place to sleep. And this hotel was perfect for that! It has a private pool and the staff is very friendly - they don't speak/understand much english, though. ||||But the location of the hotel is what makes it so lovely. It is right next to several supermarkets, drug store, car rental, cafés, internet café, laundry place, restaurants and the beach, of course. Just a 2 minute walk maximum. And the beach is fantastic. ||||But here comes the negative. If you're the type of guy that needs to have a fancy, good looking hotel to complete your vacation, this is not for you. You can say that you get what you pay for. The bathrooms aren't super. They're a little dark, and the shower doesn't have a cabinet, so you kind of have to sit when you shower. But it is daily cleaning of the rooms, as far as I remember. At least every other day. And in the night time, it comes a lot of mosquitos into the rooms. But as long as you wear something protecting against it, it doesn't really matter. ||||So, if you want a fancy hotel, don't go here. But if you're like me and just wants a decent place to sleep and wants to concentrate on what's happening outside the hotel, this one...
Read more😊: The staff were great the beds were decent - would have liked an extra blanket optional in the room The pool area was really good for the price The landscape and outside view of the hotel was very picturesque the location was also great Although i have some negatives, in my opinion the good outweighed the bad and i would actually stay here again.. 😢: The wifi needs some serious fixing as the mobile data reception is not to great. The hotel gets quite loud at night so would recommend to bring ear plugs - an eye mask too as there are some small lights in the room that can’t be switched off There were lots of bugs in the room (flying around, on walls, on ceiling, few crawlies on the floor) But the main issue was the bathroom. It smelt quite bad. There always seemed to be liquid on the floor, even when i first got there before I had showered, there were wet spots on the floor mat that came from no where when i put it down after a few hours. There also isn’t an overhead light in the bathroom, only a little lamp above the mirror. The biggest issue is there is no where to put the shower head? It was almost impossible for me to wash my hair after the beach as the shower head could only be used hand held. If you don’t have to shampoo/condition your hair, then this won’t be a huge issue for you.
A lot of these issues can be fixed quite easily and would make this hotel a much...
