We recently had the pleasure of dining at Giannoulis Tavern twice while in Agios Prokopios, Naxos, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were part of the family. The warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with the friendly and attentive staff, made us feel right at home.
The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Greek dishes, including mouthwatering meatballs, Greek salads, and moussaka. We opted for the house special, which included a delicious assortment of dishes, including perfectly cooked meatballs and a generous serving of Greek salad. The food was not only delicious but also presented beautifully, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
A special shoutout to Nikos, our fantastic server! Whether he was cracking jokes or offering his expert recommendations, Nikos made our evening unforgettable. His enthusiasm and warmth truly embodied the spirit of Greek hospitality. At one point, he even convinced us to try a dish that wasn't on our radar, and it turned out to be a highlight of our meal!
The service was exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. The staff was attentive and ensured that our glasses were always full and our plates were never empty. The atmosphere was lively yet intimate, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal after a long day of exploring the island.
Giannoulis Tavern truly stands out from other restaurants in Naxos. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm family atmosphere makes it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to the island. We left feeling full and content, with memories that will...
Read moreA restaurant, yes — but more than that, a home for the heart.
I’ve come to Giannoulis every single day while staying in town. Not once out of habit, but out of love. Out of comfort. Out of connection.
From the first moment I walked in, I was greeted — not just as a guest, but as someone they somehow already knew. I’ve been welcomed like family, remembered like a regular, and treated like a friend.
The food is exceptional — deeply honest and unfussy, the kind of cooking that doesn’t shout for attention but lingers with you long after the meal is done. The grilled sea bream, the pickled octopus, the delicious kataifi ekmek that I dream about each night. Everything is made with a quiet confidence that only comes from doing something the right way, every day, for years.
But what sets Giannoulis apart — what makes it one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to — is the feeling. The people. The warmth that fills the space like sunlight.
This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a haven. A soft landing place for travelers far from home. It’s the kind of place you dream about returning to. And honestly, I might — if only to sit at this same table, exchange the same familiar smiles, and feel once more that rare kind of belonging that’s hard to find anywhere, let alone while passing through.
If you find yourself anywhere near this beautiful place, come here. Come hungry, come open-hearted — and come more than once.
You’ll be better for it....
Read moreBest restaurant in the Cyclades! We went to Gianullis Restaurant two nights in a row, which we rarely do. Usually we try to visit different restaurants but since the first evening was the best of our whole vacation, we really had to come here a second time.
The restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. As reservations are not possible, we decided to stand in the line. But waiting there is not a problem at all. On the contrary. For us, the experience has already begun there. Nikos, an employee of the restaurant, provides the waiting with free wine. After some time, this leads to the fact that the mood is already loosened up in the line and you get into conversation with the other guests. After a - despite the long line - moderate waiting time, the unique experience of the restaurant continues. Nikos and the other guys heat up the mood in the restaurant properly and are the best hosts you could imagine. No wish is denied and you can feel the passion of the staff for their job and the gastronomy. The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly vibrant.
After a short wait, which is shortened with a local appetizer, you are served excellent Greek food. Afterwards, you don't have to wait long for a cake and Ouzo on the house.
For us, visiting Gianullis is must do if you are...
