We were expecting a refurbished twin room. It had not been refurbished at all! The ceiling in the entry hall was falling apart and had obviously had a massive leak through it as the wood surround was rotten and in danger of falling in. The taps and shower in the bathroom had an inch of limescale on them. The tiles on the floor needed repointing. The mirror had damage along the bottom. The shelf above the sink had peeling paint. The right hand bedside cabinet surface was dirty and greasy. The walls in the bedroom appeared to have been touched up and the edges had been filled with some kind of filler on what looked liked damp patches. The area above the heater unit was dirty. The 2 white plastic chairs on the balcony had not been cleaned and had dirt on the seats. LASTLY BUT THE WORST WE HAVE EVER COME ACROSS - when we opened the wardrobe, the smell of damp was disgusting and overpowering. The extra pillows in there also smelt strongly of damp. In effect it was totally unusable. My colleague has a lung condition which can be very dangerous when in contact with mould spores!!! After immediately requesting a change of room, which was initially refused due to being full, after the second request, we were moved to a 3 bedded room for 1 night only as it had been pre-booked by a school party. We left the hotel after 1...
Read moreAs soon as we walked into the hotel we felt we had made a mistake after the receptionist seemed shocked that we'd booked to stay for two weeks. After waiting for about 5 minutes for the lift to reach our floor we made it to our room. ||The first thing of note was the ceiling as soon as you walk into the room was on the verge of collapse. Several pieces of toilet paper were also seen stuck in the cracks of the ceiling. The balcony pictured on the hotel website made it seem as if you could happily dine on it. We were greeted with dirty plastic chairs and a table.||It took the hotel almost a week to give us a shower mat so we were using hand towels for several days. The poorly fitted shower curtain would block the drain and allow water to pass through the sides, leaving the room flooded every time the shower was used.||One of the main selling points when we booked the hotel was the rooftop bar. As soon as we walked in there was signs plastered around saying it was temporarily closed. We asked the hotel staff why it was closed and when it would reopen, their response was: "I don't why, it's the owner's decision." The fact it was closed was not stated on their website when we booked.||The location is one of the redeeming factors of the hotel being a short walk away from the beach, shops, and...
Read moreThe location is just by the gate to the old town, so everything is nearby, but the main road is so noisy, even at night, that you can't sleep with the window open. The air-conditioning has a low of about 22 degrees. Lower than that and it doesn't turn on. I didn't find that it cooled the room a lot, but my room never got the direct sun, so it was bearable.|I think it could be a lot better for the money. The balcony is tiny and has no washing line for wet clothes. The TV isn't tuned. The breakfast is ok, but the first morning I came down at about 8am and struggled to find butter, chopped fruit, yoghurt... The electricity only works in the room when you put the key in, which means that the fridge doesn't work when you are out, and as a result you can't keep anything cool. It isn't cold enough to chill a bottle of water overnight, even after I asked then to take a look at it. And the fridge itself is so small that you can't put more than one half-litre bottle of water in!|The staff are unaware of their city. They raise eyebrows when you say you want to visit a site they've never heard of, they can't recommend any restaurants ("I don't eat in restaurants") or tours ("I don't know about any dance nights") and are generally not...
