We have cancelled a reservation from a restaurant in the old port, since the night before we were amazed about the atmosphere at this place, with the live music. Unfortunately live music is not every day, only Thusrday and Sunday as I learned afterwards 😃. The taverna is small, situated in some hidden streets of old city. Traditional food, limited menu, low prices. Staff reapectful, very busy as being the only waitress for the entire terrace. Food was ok, house wine not really. All perfect! We spent three days in Rethymno and have visited this place every night. Very tasty local dishes, you can try a lot of them here. Just combining three or four appetizers, you get quite a good meal, with different flavoures and gastronomic experience. Of course, main dishes are good choice as well. Kitchen is open until midnight, and you can actually have some food until that time. It might happen that you have to wait for a table or a waiter for some time, but believe me, there's a good reason for that. So, if you're on vacation, just relax and enjoy the atmosphere...

Randomly walking on the less touristic area of the Old Town we found this restaurant, attracted by the small cute church next to it and live music playing. This was really the authentic Cretan experience. We heard many speaking Greek. Food was deliciooooous even if it was dark and the pictures are not relevant. We got pork souvlaki and G...yougurt something (lamb burger meat and yougurt sauce and pita) - both came with potatoes. And the cheese in pastry honey and sesame. The waiters were very kind and speak good English. Very good service. Too low prices for the atmosphere food...
