Walking around Rethymno downtown looking for a place to have a typical meal; we stopped at Corina Restaurant. Our attention was immediately attracted by a very well decorated and comfortable place. At the restaurant entry we were welcomed by George a lovely person that after being challenged of having a unique culinary experience; he let us known the we arrived to the right place. We order a Moussaka as a main dish and George kindly explained how they do this delicatese and revealed that the secret for a such tasted meal is its freshness against other restaurants that serve frozen Moussaka. Then George recommended a dessert, Galaktomboyreko, so I decided immediately to write this lines. As we arrived we were greeted by a charming bald man who assured us we would be having the best steak on the island. We were shown to our very comfortable seats and that’s when the magic began to unfold, grilled asparagus rained down from the heavens above and it was accompanied by feta saganaki that was drenched in honey aka liquid Jesus! As my girlfriend looked over at me I knew I was getting lucky tonight. The steaks came out next they cut like tiger woods in the PGA 10 years straight in his 20s eh??? Very nice and classy place, furnished with antique furniture and elegantly desined, near the old port and included in the venetian quarter, with a kind, friendly and efficient staff. Good restaurant, especially for cretan food. Unique flaw the proximity of a disco that makes hard to sleep the night between Saturday and Sunday because of music and drunken people in the street. Better to avoid two floor rooms as they are nice to see, but very unconfortable to use, for the wood stairs and the sleeping place in the top without windows.
