My friend and I visited the Olympic palace hotel on 24th September for 7 nights, The room The room although as people say correctly was a little dated, that didn’t bother us, it was still a lovely, spacious room, it was spotlessly clean and had everything it said it had. Plenty of storage for clothes and other necessities. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cleaners came in daily and left it spotless daily! Lovely ladies so polite and friendly. We had the mountain view which was a little boring but we weren’t bothered as we were barely in there!! The bathroom looked quite new and the shower was lovely and refreshing!! We were in 443. The food As a whole we both agreed the food was lovely! I wouldn’t class it as the best for the 5* rating although we certainly enjoyed the meals we ate there, there was a lot to choose from the buffet and a wide choice for all kinds of eaters. My friend and I are both big foodies so we were happily impressed with what was on offer. We chose to eat at the Italian as part of the restaurant choice but unfortunately we didn’t fancy anything on the menu and went elsewhere. That wasn’t a complaint though as we could of chose any of the three restaurants in the resort. Other people spoke highly of these restaurants it was just our personal preference. Drinks The cocktails were all lovely we tried everyone, a few were very sugary so wouldn’t of been able to drink more than one or two. My personal favourite were the pinacolada & the paradise but they were all lovely and refreshing. The baileys iced coffees were to die for! We drank mostly in the pool bar and the rooftop bar where staff were more than attentive, friendly and quick at serving, on the last day we had a few cocktails in the lounge bar sitting outside which was also rather nice! Hotel grounds The hotel grounds were beautiful. Some lovely areas to sit and relax reading or just napping, the gardens were kept beautifully and everywhere was well maintained and very clean and tidy. Maintenance & cleaning Staff could be seen throughout the hotel and it’s grounds working hard to keep the place lovely, and always offered a smile and hello. The staff From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we were made to feel very welcome, staff were very helpful with their recommendations wether it be restaurants out of resort or things to do they were great!! The main buffet staff were brilliant and knew what they were doing, they were speedy and friendly and nothing was too much bother for them! The speed at which tables were cleared was brilliant! The service for drinks was also just as good! Sam. The pool bar lady, is my favourite person in the hotel. This isn’t anything bad against anyone else but we just loved her, she has the best sense of humour and although was on her own served speedily and kept her bar spotless! She has a really good relationship with all of the customers and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all love you to bits!! Thankyou so much Sam!! The entertainment team worked really hard to get people involved, dancing while nobody else was, singing karaoke to try and get everyone up singing! I loved the karaoke night! They worked the room stopping and chatting to all the people in the bar and were really lovely and friendly!! Despite nobody seeming interested they still tried their best to get everyone up!! Well done guys! My friend and I also took part in the water aerobics which was really fun and enjoyable! The spa I cannot remember the name of the lady who did my massage but it was the best massage I have ever ever had. It was so relaxing, apologies for falling asleep and waking myself up snoring!!! The spa is lovely, and again spotlessly clean. As a whole the staff in this hotel are probably one of the best teams I’ve seen in a hotel as large as this and made our stay really enjoyable. From the cleaners to the managers thankyou so much and we’ll...
Read moreThis resort is a perfect place to go if you’re looking for comfort, relaxation and the sun and sea. At arrival we did have to wait a bit for the receptionist but that wasn’t that big of a deal, after that a very nice staff member took up our luggage and was just really nice in general. The sea is extremely close and just a 2 minute walk across the hotel, do be careful that you get right of way when crossing though. The breakfast was great, lots of variation and warm and cold food, even desserts were served at breakfast and you could also easily order tea or coffee with a waiter who asked you within almost a minute of sitting down which is great service. We ate lunch at the restaurant next to the pool, it was an amazing place, the staff was nice and the food was great. The pool was nice to sit at and just relax, same as the beach there was lots of sun and you could obviously also go for a swim. When going out for breakfast a sign can be put up to either service your room or not disturb, servicing was 10/10, the sheets were done neatly, bathroom supplies got restocked. Even when we had a broken bathroom light and reported it to the lobby desk, it was changed when we got back from our breakfast. The dinner at the main hall downstairs was an all you can eat buffet just like a lot of the restaurants part of the resort, the dinner in the restaurant in the resort itself changed every day and there was different food to pick from which was great to see, that dinner got switched up every day so you could try new things. I also went to the game room, where a super nice guy manages the place, there were 4 PlayStation 5’s there, with PlayStation vr and even one oculus quest 2 to play games on, for s small price per person per hour. The board games were free and the man who managed the place even let us take some games with us to the lobby to play some games to pass the time until our bus to the airport arrived. The only complaint I could think of is that “all inclusive”, was not totally all inclusive, the game room cost extra money (which is still extremely worth it), massage chairs to try costed money, and even the indoor pool, which was part of the spa, costed €20 for a day ticket. A walking trail was also nearby the hotel, marked by a sign that says something along the lines of “mountain trail”, unfortunately there’s a lot of waste disposal in that trail but it was still a very nice walk through nature but the path sometimes was a bit overgrown which wasn’t that big of a deal. Rhodes city itself was also really nice, we got there through the taxi service that the resort provided us with, the driver arrived quickly and was nice and informed us where we could get a new taxi when we wanted to get back to the hotel. Although just like everywhere in Rhodes people from restaurants were trying to greet you and get you to eat at their place, which at some point gets a bit repetitive but also it obviously works. We ended up eating at a place where the guy was super nice and even gave us directions to the city before we ended up turning around to go back to where that guy talked to us. The shops in Rhodes city are fun but some do sell the exact same things but that’s expected at a very tourist-y place. I’d say this hotel is worth the 5 stars it proudly displays everywhere, the staff is amazing and very nice, the service is great, everything you’d want is close and very accessible, if you’re planning on going to Rhodes, consider this hotel and why it has 5 stars, it has...
Read moreOnce you enter the hotel you get a well designed lobby which gives a good impression.
The staff on the reception is being nice however doesn't tell you anything about the hotel or what there is without asking.
The room facilities were avarange. The bath was sadly not in a perfect state, with some outdated and kinda rosty water tap.
Im the badtub had some glue dirty area in it, which wasn't cleaned by the cleaning crew at all over the 9 days we stayed there. Sadly we never meet the cleaning crew as we traveled allot so we haven't talked to them.
Then the toilet flush was terrible, there wasn't enough water going into the toilet when flushing, so that sometimes even after 3 flushes you still had paper flouting in the toilet.
The floor in the room wasn't getting cleaned and vacuumed enough, one could see that they clean only very superficial. If you had a look under the bed or furniture you got to see a ton of dirt. This hasn't changed even after I left a 5€ tip.
Aside of that there was 1 cockroach running around our room. We never cough it tho, so I guess the next guest will get the pleasure.
The air conditioner was very loud in general, while also making sometimes smashing sounds. However sadly it didn't matter what you set on the temperatur thermostate or what level of ventilation you choose. The air wasn't being cooled enough (at least in the sleeping area) and it took half a day to get any cold air in. Meaning you end up with very loud background noise and close to no cool air.
I've been in many hotels and have seen much more effective air conditioners.
The smart tv offers the possibility to check out what the hotel has to offer, hover it didn't work. Once you wanted to check out some pictures of the hotel areas you were presented with a blank page. Very weak.
The wifi and internet in general was terrible. In our sleeping area we had close to no wifi at all. One had to go on the route on close to the hotel floor (on all 3 devices we had with us). This I consider a no go, how can a 5 star hotel have such bad and lacking wifi infrastructure ??
Even the internet on the smart TV wasn't good, watching YouTube with 720p had the videos buffering at times. I mean hello? We have the year 2018, where everything is digital and internet is a part of the daily life.
The food in the restourant was enough for us. We had enough to choose from and the taste was about okay. The price for a bottle of water was 3.8€, the very same bottle of water costed 0.35€ at supermarket.
The staff was being nice most of the time.
The pool was okay. The enternainend was to be found however this hotel is more for older people, a little quite and no big partys etc.
The billiard room is a joke, missing proper gear and even worse the tables are so close to the walls and to each other that you hit the wall or can't aim properly coz the wall is blocking your positioning.
The fitness room is totally small and has like barely any equipment there.
What else, ehmm the beach area was good. You always had a spot. The only missing thing was a bar. However one could walk nearby to a beach shop.
Also to be noted, the hotel and beach is separated by a main street. It was a pain to get to the other side. Other hotels had a underground passage.
While for some this might be a good enough hotel, we won't visit it again. This is more like a 3-Star international hotel with some good areas...
