From the title of this review, you would think we had a bad stay but we enjoyed our time here and didn't make any complaints. We are not fussy but have stayed in many similar hotels so have based this review on our experiences.||The niggles:||Arrived around 20:00 and were the only new guests so reception not busy. Didn't get told much about the hotel just meal timings and that we were in a different building. A staff member came to help with our cases and only by asking him did we find out about the restaurant and bar locations. There is a QR code in the room with info but again, we had to find this out for ourselves.||The hotel is actually a small complex with three accommodation blocks, (one housing reception, one with the half board restaurant inside and one by the pool) a pool bar and a taverna restaurant, which is a la carte. The taverna is fine but there are better and cheaper places in the town. Be aware, many rooms in these buildings look out into the car park, front of hotel or gardens so worth specifying your preference. We were in the restaurant block with a half-decent sea view, just far enough from noise and smells but it could be hit and miss. Generally, the complex is nice and quiet, no roads nearby or noisy bars.||Right! There are not enough sunbeds or more specifically, parasols. The beach and gardens are mostly used for sunbathing but there needs to be more shade. There is plenty of space and the beach is not crowded but nowhere to actually lie, unless you grab a bed by 07:30. We would visit the beach after 15:00 and sometimes get a couple of beds but this isn't guaranteed. The pool area is wasted. Again not enough shade and the only bar is on the beach so nowhere to get a drink nearby. The pool is fine though, just under used.||The hotel is new-looking, very clean and well maintained, but a bit uninspiring. Rooms are functional, rather than lxurious. Bathrooms are well laid out though. There is no bar in the main building so you can't sit in the cool and read, play cards and relax with a drink. This seems a bit of a shame. Because of this, there is little to keep you there and the complex gives the feeling of functionality and effeciency rather than a relaxed vibe. Basically, there is no atmosphere.||The restaurant is essentially a glorified cafeteria. Rows of tables, food in one area with no decor, white walls and lots of people. Food however is good. We have people with us who prefer to avoid meat but we all found something tasty and well prepared each night. Not the biggest choice of dishes however. Breakfast is decent too. Again, a feeling of efficiency, rather than an ambience. You turn up, you eat, you leave...||The beach bar is very good, but not great value. A large draught beer is €6:50 but €3:00 on the strip. It could get expensive drinking there all day/night. The location is great and the staff fab though.||Entertainment is a bit dodgy but par for the course in resorts like this.||We are English but have lived abroad and speak some German so mix quite well. We made sime Italian friends but generally, guests are German, Italian, Czech, Frence with a few Brits. Not a problem, just don't expect queueing or banter in the restaurant...||Positives:||Clean hotel, good location, (if you want a relaxed resort with a few shops and bars)|Staff friendly, especially if you try a bit of Greek! Some were really lovely. Shout out to Dionysis and Flotini. Thanks for making our stay more fun.||Top tips:||The beach is better than the pool, beach shoes are a good idea.|Car hire available from reception, nice and easy to arrange.|Specify your room as you may end up looking at cars.|If you love cats, you'll love it here.|Fuel is around €1:95 a litre for unleaded!|Kettles are available, just ask reception but bring your own brew kit!|Get out and explore the island. Corfu is much more than a hotel or the beach outside your hotel. The villages are amazing, views breathtaking. Loved the island...||Overall, a good holiday hotel, not...
Read moreI will give a very honest review. We stayed for 7 days with a 7 month old baby. We were pleased to see on arrival that the baby bassinet/cot was provided and was very clean and tidy. The smell and temperature of the room when arriving was very nice and welcoming. We were also very surprised to find that they had given us a room with a view of the pool and beach with an absolutely stunning view (room 121). The room itself was very clean and well presented. Ample shower gel and hand wash which smelt nice. The shower pressure was amazing. There was also a mini fridge for convenience to store baby food although it did leak and the seal was not working very well it did the job to keep baby food chilled.
We booked the half board which included lunch and dinner. On our first night (Monday night) we had to take food to our hotel room as our baby was not doing so well. The food was a bit alarming and to be honest we were a bit worried with regards to quality but the nights after the food and wine was pretty ok and the desserts were nice too. It is standard however so if you are a foodie I would recommend you purchase the lunches not in the buffet as we found the lunches in the Tavern were of better standard. For babies the staff accommodated a baby chair every time we went up to eat which was so convenient and big thanks to the staff!
With regards to hotel service we personally did not have any issues there as everyone was in awe of the baby so super baby-friendly staff from the happy cleaners waiters and reception staff everyone says hello. I did notice however the vibe was a little different when not with baby which I can totally empathise with others.
There are local supermarkets nearby that have nappies, fruit veg green yogurt and baby food if you ever fall short on stock. I wouldn’t heavily rely on the baby food there though as most produce ingredients are in Greek!
Constructive criticisms that come to mind is the pools are very cold! We couldn’t take baby for a swim which was a real shame. Also, from time to time it could get very hot in the dinning room during breakfast and dinner. On hot days the air-con at the back of the room would be up at 25 degrees and sometimes off altogether which isn’t ideal and I believe the windows were closed due to the swarm of mosquitos after the short rain period which was fair play. Also I didn’t see an option for ice in drinks but this would have been very useful for the above reasons. The other disappointing thing is we were not given water in our rooms. After a long travel it would have been nice to be given at least one bottle. We had to leave our rooms straight away as we were very thirsty. And the beach towels were a bit old and tired.
But if you are a young family and looking for a nice simple quiet spot that is not as quirky as most family hotels but just as accommodating, I would recommend.
Nice accessible beach for babies / elderly, amazing view, great staff. We really enjoyed our stay...
Read moreRooms (3 buildings are part of hotel) • In a building near the pool, the room was so small that two adults and a baby could not fit properly, so we had to put some furniture on the balcony... Only free space for the baby crib was next to the closet and because of that we could not use it. The crib for the baby was old and outworn. Definitely not 4 stars room, maybe 2, there were no plugs next to bed, …. also, we had an ant’s colony, as you can see in the picture. • In the main building where there is reception you can find normal renovated rooms, correct and they are subject to the standard of 4 stars. Restaurant - more like a canteen, but the food was a true refreshment. Truth to be told, it was all the same ingredient every day, but very testy and used well…new fresh food was constantly being brought by staff Pool - working from 10 till 6 p.m. so they are making sure that people would get burned from the sun, and get melanomas (skin cancer). They also have a baby pool, and I am using this opportunity to tell management that the baby can not be in the sun between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Noise - if you came to get some rest and enjoy the sea, and quiet, not place for you during the night, because every night till 11 p.m. there is live entertainment in Café next to beach Promenade – if you want to walk by the sea, you can but if it’s too late or early, the owner whose house is in the center of the hotel's garden will come and harass you. She was bothering us because we were sitting on the beach and whispering while the baby was sleeping … So, the owner lady demanded to know if we were guests of the hotel, asking what we were doing there, and told that we cannot be here, that that is not a place for a baby, and that we can only be in a noisy café or on the balcony of our room. So, we decided to move. Sea - very clean water, the beach is first with pebbles, but after is sand. But if you are using too much water on the beach shower owner would come to warn you, and shut down the water. Shade - very little place for it, you need to get up at 7 a.m. to make sure you find space, does not matter if you want to be next to pool, tree, or on beach bed… the best shade is around and behind the owner house but it’s forbidden to be there. Hotel surroundings – if you want to walk outside of the hotel area it is impossible with a baby stroller. Village does not have sidewalk… Promenade does not exist, only sand and wooden pallets. People – at reception – Christine, was very polite and real host; in restaurant – whole staff was very nice; cleaning lady – very professional; in markets - very helpful Cleanliness – garden, hotel area,...
