I booked a classical studio apartment with balcony for one night. The apartment on the photo looked perfect, it looked small and cozy, therefore the expectations were high. The problems started when i was sending messages to the host and i was not getting any replies back, in 3 days i texted them i only got one reply. The morning we were supposed to check in we got the message with the code of the front door and where we were supposed to get key since it’s a contactless check in. There is no parking whatsoever and there is a garage next door where you are supposed to pay 30€ per night to leave the car there. The check in process went smoothly, there were 2 elevators which worked and one which didn’t. The whole building was dirty and the staircase and halls reeked of mold. When we got in the room it looked like in the pictures yes, the way it was decorated and everything but it was in horrible condition. It wasn’t clean, first the toaster was dirty with old bread crumbs, the stove as well. It smelled like mold, it was all over the walls. In the bathroom, one of the shower’s doors was missing and when you took a shower water was everywhere, the way you get hot water is a whole another story. You are supposed to open the electric box and then press a switch which complicated, then you are supposed to wait and the hot water ran out quickly. The sink was filled with dirty water and toilet as well. Some places on the sheet on the bed were stained and the sofa was in a horrible condition, torn on the side and burnt with a cigarette i suppose from the looks of it. The balcony was filthy, bugs were everywhere, there was cigarette buts too, it looked like it was never cleaned. We also had a problem with the wifi, it only had service in the hall, when you got in the room it didn’t even show up in the wifi list, we contacted them and they responded a few hours later being not helpful at all, they just texted us the same thing, the name of the wifi and the password, so we bought an e sim. The location is okay, it was a 30 minute walk from the Aristotle’s square. Through the whole night there was a place thorough which wind from outside was coming in, which caused us to wake up with knots in our backs. We were thinking about booking another apartment and letting the money go down the drain, and we definitely would have if it was for a few days but luckily it was only for one night, we are definitely not going back there and we would definitely NOT recommend going there, it is not...

We arrived at the room after midnight and received the key from the lockers, since there was no reception.

When we got in the room, we realized that there were no sheets, pillow, blanket or towels for the third person, although the reservation was for three people.

We called at the communication number that was given to us and they unlocked another room for us, so that we could take all the necessary stuff.

We hadn't been in the room for more than five minutes and we had already seen three cockroaches, one on the wall, one on the oven and one on the couch that we were supposed to sleep.

After communicating again with the night shift foreman, we ended up changing 6 rooms at the 2nd and 6th floor of the building, all full of bugs, particularly cockroaches! Of course we had to find somewhere else to stay at 1 o' clock in the evening.

We demanded full refund, which at first they refused to give us, because they did not believe us, on the ground that the cleaning lady had been in the rooms later that morning and did not see any bugs. However, after reporting the incident at Booking.com, we were able to get in touch with the owner themselves, who was more polite, and so we managed to get the refund.

PS: The rooms were not only full of bugs, but also full of crumbs and cut pills too.

SOS SCAM AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! I’ve been travelling 10 years now, first time ever that I leave a bad review, if that makes you mark my words. The check-in is contactless. They keep you hostage without the passwords to get in your already-paid room if you don’t provide them with piece of information they shouldn’t have. Information that is 1)totally confidential, 2)not written in their booking description 3) never being requested in my life previously and 4) had nothing to do with any kind of room reservation. Looked suspicious to me, so I asked them to continue in English, knowing that booking provides a safety net on these issues and I could use this chat as evidence. As expected, they refused to communicate in English twice (indirectly, by keep asking for the info in Greek). Had to call booking and explain that it’s so weird, I feel unprotected, I’ve been waiting outside of my room for 5 hours and asked to cancel it immediately. After a small check they totally agreed that they can’t ask for this info and I’m illegally not being provided with my codes so they refunded the amount, although it was a non- refundable deal.
