El Greco Hotel Thessaloniki — Hotel in Municipality of Thessaloniki

I really can't understand why you people are giving more then 1 star for this hotel. Its because of you and your higher ratings that they are not improving the conditions and people continue to come. Let s begin: Air conditioning is extremely noisy. We had to change two rooms to find one with a decent noise level. All the rooms I’ve tried are old and has the specific smell. Water pressure on the shower its … its not also the shower curtain is about 10 cm higher than the showerthub so a considerably amount of water goes on the floor. The walls in the bathroom and in the room are very dirty an the paint/ wallpaper is coming off. The door was not closing properly, you need to use a little bit of force to do it and the inside handle is lose. And the breakfast that you all said it was “great/amazing” is really just fried eggs, scrambled eggs both with a ton of oil, some sausages , olives , cucumbers, tomatoes, one or two cold cuts and one tipe of cheese. Indeed a great breakfast …. ooo i almost forgot, my wife trowed up after this great wonderful breakfast Over all it’s the worst hotel we stayed in Greece. The guy at the reception told me that all the rooms are the same in the entire hotel, his words, not mine. For this i give you some pictures so you can see how all the rooms are. And if you are asking way did we stayed is because it was late, very hot and we ware very tired. There is a lot more to say but i think for now is enough.

Response to owner feedback: I was 100% sure this will be your answer. No i will not publicly post my phone number, besides the reservation was made by my wife under her name. If you want you can check the rooms 805 and 609 in which the air conditioner is as loud as a diesel engine and although the remote has 3 steps only works on and of just like the thermostat, you can only turn it on or off. The pictures are made in room 204 on 10 of august. Maybe you can tell me why your employe told me on the 10 of august that the room 204 is in the same price range as 805 and 609 and on the next day another of your employe told me that is not “but unfortunately for us is to late to do something” and when i told her what her colleague said her answer was “ i don’t know what my colleague said, i am here now and that is what i am...

Disappointment

It's very rare for me to leave a bad reviews but this time I feel I should let you know about my experience there. All started when I first entered at the room. The room was super old and it has nothing to do with any of the pics you will find in any website. The furniture was old, beds also and uncomfortable there was a super old wallpaper at the walls (they was boring probably to paint the old walls). The wallpaper was old and it had mold it was dirty and at the most parts totally destroyed. The bath was awfully dirty and old. For the first time in my life I felt I was staying at half stay hotel. Also for the first time in my life I had to ask for an other room. The reception was good and the informed me they had only single person room (we were two). The room I had it was so bad that I accept it gladly. Unfortunately when I went to the room i found out that it was a bit better but ok just for a night. But the problems didn't stop there. The lock at that room wasn't working and the door was unlocked all the time. For one more time I had to inform the hotel. Once the did check it them self they apologized to me and they offered me a nice big room with a nice view.

My conclusion

Fake pictures with a few renew rooms that doesn't represent the truth. The hotel rooms looks like a low quality hostel that you wound like to stay there. Very friendly staff Very close to city center. But I wouldn't recommend it again.

I have stayed at this hotel more than 10 times over the past five years, and it has always been a pleasant experience. The staff are very friendly, the location is excellent — only 10 minutes from the town centre — and the breakfast is quite good.

However, during my recent stay I noticed that some rooms are newly refurbished, while others are quite old and in need of renovation. Unfortunately, on the first day there was no hot water in the entire hotel, and there didn’t seem to be a backup system to resolve the issue. I believe this is something that should be addressed for the comfort of future guests.

The hotel is generally clean, though the level of cleanliness varies in some areas. The elevator is also very small, which can be inconvenient at times. Noise is not a problem if the windows are closed, and while there are often student groups staying at the hotel, the situation is manageable.

I truly like this hotel and would love to continue staying here, but I hope that a full refurbishment of the older rooms and facilities will be considered. With these improvements, the hotel could once again be an excellent choice, as it was...
