Refreshingly relaxing Rene Hotel! We had a wonderful time at this Hotel and, reluctantly, need to give a fabulous review! The Hotel is tucked away at the top of a steep hill but turn the corner to head to the Hotel reception and be greeted by breathtakingly stunning views across the Aegean Sea. This is a very well kept property with lush looking well tended gardens and a bright welcoming property. The bar area is partially covered, again with superb views, and offers bar services both non and alcoholic and also a menu for lunch throughout the day. Continue through the bar to the extremely clean pool area with glass instead of a wall to ensure the eye feasting views are not lost. The whole area is extremely clean with plenty of Covid precautions set in place. All rooms have a sea view from either a terrace or balcony and they are very spacious, in the main quite up to date, with comfortable furniture, fridge, Safe, aircon, hot beverage facilities and plenty of wardrobe space. Clean linen every other day delivered and changed by very happy domestic ladies who keep every room very clean. Pool and beach towels kept in a cabinet in the bar area are available at a very small cost to used for 2 days at a time. Breakfast is generally a buffet event with plenty of options which includes both continental and cooked eggs with bacon. Orders are taken for the latter to be cooked fresh as and when requested. The family that run the Hotel are very friendly, without being intrusive and are happy to impart information as and when required. We had a fantastic time, even with the challenging hill, but bear in mind Taxi's from the seafront are only around 7 euro per trip. I would highly recommend Hotel Rene and advise you don't waver when deciding to book.....you may miss it! Thank you to all for helping to make...
Read moreJust home from a 12 night stay at Hotel Rene. What a lovely place to stay. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotless and rooms cleaned every day. Excellent shower and big comfy bed. Rooms are basic with a tv, fridge, kettle & hairdryer, plenty of space to hang clothes and plenty of hangers too. All rooms have amazing sea views. The view from the pool amazing also, plenty of comfy sunloungers. We don't normally take towels when travelling as normally provided at the facility. Rene have towels to use at a charge of 2 euros per 2 days. So if you are a family travelling worth taking your own. Breakfast was great, help yourself to a continental style, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries, meats, cheeses, bread, juices, tea & coffee, also eggs and bacon prepared on request. The bar closed early evening as coming to the end of the season however the fridge left open so you can always help yourself to water, fizzy drinks, wine & beer on a honesty basis and pay next day for what you have used. I found this very useful as can pivk up water for the room etc.Great location 10 mins walk to Skiathos Town, 5 mins to bus stop no.4 & 10 mins to beach. It is on a hill, going down fine, coming up we just took our time or grabbed a taxi back from the Town. Loads of lovely tavernas, Alexandros Gyros at the bottom of the hill i would recommend the chicken gyros 3 euros and delicious. As you cross the road at the bottom of the hill on the left side was a place called Little Balcony also excellent and good value for money, great to use if you didn't want to head into town. Would definitely recommend a stay at Hotel Rene on the beautiful island of Skiathos. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday...
Read moreWe chose Hotel Rene as it looked more our style, a bit more relaxed and a homely feel. Our instinct was right. What a wonderful hotel, small, charming, good amenities and wonderful owners and staff. They could not do more to help if they tried. Exactly what we wanted and needed. ||We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony taking in the excellent view, chilling by the nicely sized pool (reasonsbly rare in Skiathos town). It is a short walk to the beach (5-10mins), and also very quick to town (10-15mins depending where you want to go). The bus stop is just at the bottom of the road to explore the island (very convenient), and right next to that is the Super Market for anything you might need. That being said the Hotel also has a reasonably priced store for any food, water or other drinks you might need. ||I would definitely look at staying here again when visiting Skiathos. You may have noticed others saying the hotel is situated on top of a hill, the upside of this - great views and a very easy walk to town or the beach! The downside is of course coming back. I must say if you are of low-moderate fitness (like me) this should be manageable for most people. It is 2-3 minutes of a steep up hill then you're done. If you have mobility issues it may not be advisable, but taxis will take you from the town for 10€.||Please don't let this put you off, but you should be aware of it. It didn't worry us, and we did not regret...
