I am incredibly disappointed with my recent stay at Mandala Suites in Laganas, Zakynthos. The experience was marred by a faulty door lock that rendered our room vulnerable and our belongings at risk. When we reported the issue to the staff and requested assistance, their response was disheartening, to say the least.
Upon notifying the hotel staff about the faulty door lock, we were told that it could potentially be fixed. However, they wanted to bring up technicalities and said they don’t guarantee the security of your items outside or inside of your safe and the door lock not functioning properly isn’t a problem that they will take responsibility or accountability for. This lackadaisical approach to guest security is completely unacceptable.
As guests, we expect a certain level of security and peace of mind during our stay, which includes a functioning and reliable door lock. To be informed that our safety couldn't be guaranteed and that our personal belongings might be at risk is not only outrageous but also highly unprofessional.
In the information sheet found in our room there is a request to speak to management before writing public online reviews, which left an expectation that management would deal with issues well, but instead we were met with technicalities and excuses to avoid responsibility.
Furthermore, I must express my disappointment with the breakfast selection at Mandala Suites. The options provided were outrageously bad. The quality and variety of food were far below what one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. It was a major letdown and did not meet our expectations.
The fundamental purpose of a hotel is to provide a safe and secure environment for its guests, along with amenities such as breakfast. Unfortunately, the management of Mandala Suites has failed miserably in upholding these basic expectations. It is inconceivable that a hotel would neglect to prioritize guest security and provide a satisfying breakfast experience.
Not only did these issues leave us feeling vulnerable and dissatisfied throughout our stay, but they also tarnished our overall impression of Mandala Suites. It is disappointing to see such a lack of attention to detail and disregard for guest welfare. We entrusted our safety, belongings, and our morning meals to Mandala Suites, only to be met with indifference and subpar offerings.
I strongly urge the management of Mandala Suites to take immediate action to rectify these issues. Enhancing the security measures and investing in reliable door locks should be their top priority. Additionally, they should revamp their breakfast selection to provide a more satisfying and enjoyable experience for their guests.
I cannot emphasize enough how deeply disappointed and outraged I am with the complete disregard for guest security and the subpar breakfast experience provided by Mandala Suites in Laganas, Zakynthos. It is my sincere hope that they address these matters promptly and make significant improvements to regain the trust and satisfaction of their guests.
This accommodation is more suited to an AirBNB sort, which is situated above a restaurant.
The hotel reception is non existent, it’s simply the on duty bar staff of the day who are not completely familiar with guest enquiries.
I will add however, the physical location of Mandala Suited is fantastic. Situated right on the beach and Laganas easily accessible with the strip being less than a minutes walk.
I’ve tried to be honest, fair and straight up with my review and I’d advise others to exercise caution if they’re are considering a stay at...
Read moreMe and fellow holiday goers visited Mandala last night (07/08/23) for a end of holiday meal. The beach front in Zante is scattered with many beautiful eateries and my group and I planned to stroll along the beach and drift into which ever tickled our fancy. But that all changed when the gentleman outside of this establishment swept us off our feet, he promised us the world. I had goose bumps from the passion of his words, it was truly inspiring. We were promised free tequilas for the end of our meal as well. It was great… in hindsight. After we had been shown our table the showman disappeared and he was replaced with a unexciting waiter who took no care, he felt almost robotic. Before we had our drinks taken a stunning bottle of water and a basket of bread was sent to our table (unordered) we thought ho hum and tucked in as we were parched and peckish from the walk down. Now for starters, a selection of 4 starters were ordered by the table, 2 nachos, muscles and 2 halloumi. The nachos were well…nachos, I did expect a touch more panache from the nachos given the venue but we didn’t get that sadly. The halloumi was cold but the calamari was reportedly light and crispy so okay all round on the starters! For the mains we opted for 3 mixed grills and 3 shoulder blade beef steak with peppercorn sauce accompanying each. The reports I got back from the mixed grill is very mediocre sadly, the sausage meat stood out and the rest was ok with the gyros meat being the low point. Now for the steaks personally I enjoyed mine cooked medium rare it was really tasty, one of my friends said his was over cooked and fatty and the other friend who ventured into the steak with us all reported it being fatty. Now the bill came to €240, as we glanced the bill we noticed that we had been charged for the items (bread and water) that had been brought over to our table with out our prior knowledge or ordering?! Very odd one. Another thing that miffed the table at the point of the bill was the lack of free drinks promised by the actor who lured us in. So perhaps the moral of this story is don’t take any notice of the guy at the door as he will fill you full off false hope and empty promises before some bang average...
Read moreThis experience was not pleasant. || 1. Check-in: There is no reception at all — guests are checked in at the bar like an afterthought. No passport was requested, which felt both unprofessional and unsafe.| 2. Cleanliness: The room was dirty from the start. There was sand left from previous guests.| 3. Restaurant practices: The restaurant tries to squeeze money out of guests in dishonest ways. They brought us water we never ordered and tried to charge for it. They also placed pre-starters on the table without asking, then added them to the bill. They said that these items are automatically included, no matter whether you want them or not.| 4. Breakfast: The breakfast was appalling — a poor-quality English breakfast served in an environment full of wasps and flies buzzing around the food.| 5. The sunbed incident (the absolute worst): Upon check-in we were told sunbeds cost €20 for two for the whole day. Nothing else was explained. The next day, we rented sunbeds from Roberto, who suddenly said we could not bring our own drinks. We asked politely about the general rules to either follow them or go to another beach. Instead of answering professionally, Roberto exploded. He became aggressive, gesturing wildly, accusing us of being “obliged” to spend €50+ at the restaurant. He did this loudly in front of other guests, publicly humiliating us and saying we had spent less than anyone else. He even told us that the only reason he didn’t “force” us to buy drinks on the first day was because of our nationality. This was not only unprofessional, but also offensive and discriminatory.||To be fair, we have no complaints about the other staff — they were polite, tried to apologize, and even offered us a free dinner to make up for the situation. But unfortunately, their efforts could not erase the humiliation and aggression we experienced from Roberto.||Overall, the service was shocking and unacceptable. Instead of a relaxing holiday, we experienced humiliation and aggression. We would strongly warn others to stay away...
