We were expecting to love our stay at Nikos Studios (having ready the many positive reviews) but our stay was disappointing. We have stayed at many Greek studio complexes described as ‘traditional’ and ‘basic’ but this was by far the most basic.||Positives:||The pool area was lovely – well maintained, clean with lots of sun loungers.||The studios and public areas were generally clean and tidy.||The studios were in nice rural setting, about 15 minutes’ walk to the town, with a good selection of restaurants, bars & shops, and the beach.||Negatives:||Our studio room (No 12) was small and stuffy, with no window (apart from a tiny window in the bathroom) and the balcony was in a stairwell.||Air conditioning was essential but cost €10 per night – in every other place we’ve stayed, AC was included in the room rate. There was also a charge to use the room safe.||There was no TV in the room – again, this is something we have always had previously, and we expected.||The towels & bedding provided were worn & shabby.||The bar/restaurant area was large but so smoky that we found it really unpleasant to use. With a bit of zoning to provide a non-smoking area, this would suit all customers.||The restaurant provided basic food, not cheap, but it would have been nice to see the Greek owners offering some Greek dishes on the menu (there were mentions in other reviews of a Greek Night, but not when we were there).||There were 2 TVs constantly on in the bar, but always tuned to Greek soaps. In the other bars & restaurants we visited, TVs were showing music or sport – programs that can be appreciated by the customers, rather than the staff.||The internet was very intermittent, especially in our room.||We found the staff to be polite, but surly (for instance, on the last day, with a night flight, we asked to leave our luggage in the large back room - they refused so we had to leave all our belongings in the bar). This is very unusual in Greece and one of the big reasons we love to visit Greece is the friendliness and helpfulness o0f our hosts, which was not evident this time.||In summary, we liked Alykes and will probably visit again, but we will stay somewhere else. We found lots of studio apartments with the facilities we expected, and friendly, helpful staff for very similar price. Nikos Studios could be lovely, if they would just invest a little time and money to bring...
Read moreNikos Poolbar Studios may be simple and basic when it comes to accommodation, but that’s all you really need — you only spend time in your room to sleep and get ready. Everything else about this place is what makes it so special.||The pool area is excellent, with a good-sized main pool and a separate kids’ pool, perfect for families. The staff are incredibly welcoming and always do whatever they can to help, which gives the whole place such a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Mary cooks delicious food throughout the day, and the weekend BBQs and Greek nights are a real highlight — amazing food, great entertainment, and a fantastic atmosphere. The new Tuesday quiz night is also great fun and adds to the sense of community here.||The location is spot on: just a 10-minute walk into the main town, where every restaurant we’ve tried has been excellent, and only a 10-minute walk to the beach. If you want a sunbed, you can head further down, but we’ve always been happy laying a towel straight on the sand.||Yes, the rooms could do with a little updating, but honestly, that doesn’t take away from the experience. Even if they never change a thing, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Nikos Poolbar Studios feels like a second home — we’ve made amazing friends here and look forward to returning every year to see...
Read moreI prefer to say very good not just good in my review. I was on a budget. Basic room with little kitchenette. Traditional bathroom with toilet, shower (ie no shower curtain handheld shower head). Room needs a bit updating but I wasn’t worried as I couldn’t have had a nicer time. Lovely friendly, helpful family. I was a solo travelling female. I needed a rest and chilled break but also like to be active. It was quiet which is what I needed (maybe early in the season not many families) mostly couples. Nikos told me about a couple of routes to run on in the mountains. It was easy to walk to town and beaches, loads of places to eat. I felt safe on my own. Nikos’s Greek night was excellent value! The family all took part, food v good. 😻 The pool/pool area v clean. Pool bar not a huge menu but didn’t matter as everything was v tasty. If you want fancy perhaps look elsewhere if you want budget but excellent chilled, friendly and “feel safe as female traveller” stay I recommend! I’m hoping to go...
