Hopes were very high, nice looking place with promising food and a great location. However, despite a warmish welcome, the waiters were so fixated on their iPads and earpieces they failed to actually attend to us. We were sat at a nice table in the corner however this meant we felt we lacked attention. When originally trying to order, (after 20 mins of arriving - still with no drink), the waiter’s iPad was not working and so we had to wait even longer. When we eventually ordered our drinks arrived swiftly but then we had to wait an hour and a half before the starters arrived. I asked several times how much longer we’d have to wait and they kept putting it off rather than answering. Whenever we tried to order drinks the waiters were too busy on their iPads and earpieces to respond and the drinks would then take far too long to arrive. After the starters we then asked how much longer for the mains and they still kept avoiding the question and so after another 20 minutes we decided enough was enough and walked out (something we’d never done before and hope not to have to do again). Our waiter tried to over charge us for what we’d consumed as we left, but thankfully he finally settled on what we had actually eaten/drunk, however, this is ridiculous considering we wasted 2 hours of our time and the chance for a nice evening out. However, we then thankfully stumbled across El Takaso down the street which was amazing....
Read moreExternally this place drew us in, it looked busy, had a waterfront location and was big. Inside, this place is very strange. The entrance is uninspiring, the music was poor elevator music, and the large children's play area was a surprise.
The drink options are severely limited, no wine or spirits on the menus we were given. So, we ordered two piña coladas and nachisimo (replacing the bolognese for frijoles). The drinks were large vats of sugary no alcohol tasting disappointments.
The nachos were bad, the cheese was some wet sloppy sauce; don't advertise cheese when it's not cheese. Far too small amount of guacamole, far too much frijoles, and the cream was a waste of everyone's time. The chips were very thick and hard.
Sadly I didn't get a fresh uplifting, 'can't get enough', plate of nachos. Perhaps making it a little fresher would work, coriander/cilantro, real cheese and possibly throw some chopped tomato and onion on top.
Two drinks and nachos was Q100/£10/$13, which to Guatemalan standards was high.
This place has a very strange atmosphere and we won't...
Read moreThe place was fantastic with great service and delicious food, at a very affordable price. We ordered the “Tierra y Mar parrillada’ to share, and it was so generous we couldn’t finish it all. I am still savoring the steak 😋 My husband was a bit disappointed with his first drink, but the manager, who personally greets everyone at their table, was quick to resolve the issue.
The restaurant doesn’t have air conditioning, so it feels quite hot when you first sit down. However, once you acclimate, the heat becomes manageable thanks to a standing fan provided for each table, which helps solve that problem.
The restaurant offers a wonderful view of the lake, and the background music is at a perfect volume, allowing you to enjoy conversations with everyone at your table without distractions.
We will definitely...
