I decided to try a new steak house in the city. The venue is nice. It has a more rustic style, but it is still elegant. There's indoor sitting that wraps around a courtyard with a fountain. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice this evening. However l, the only downside is that there is not enough light in the patio, so reading the menu was difficult. The restaurant also has plenty of parking.
I was told to get the steak Cafe de Paris butter. It's a 10 oz filet brought to you in a platter with flavore butter. I got the salad and grilled vegetables as my sides and also got a glass of Malbec. The steak was cooked perfectly. However, the butter didn't have much flavor. The salad was mediocre. The vegetables were undercooked and lacked seasoning or flavor. I also got the tres leches for dessert. Their dessert menu options are excellent. We also got the cheese appetizer. It was OK. We thought it was a fondue, but it was straight-up melted cheese with mushrooms. And they don't even give proper bread, just some bought dried bread sticks.
The service was excellent. Carlos was our server, and he did an excellent job taking care of us. He gave us great suggestions and was very attentive.
I don't know if I'll go back given the other options available nearby. But if I do, it would be for drinks and their desserts. So, if you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere and a nice patio to have drinks during a nicenday, definitely stop by...
Read moreOne of the best meals we had during our 5-day visit to Guatemala (GC, Monterrico, Antigua, Panajachel). The service was top-notch!! It is too bad that we only discovered this gem on our last day in Guatemala.
Parking is on-site! And the restaurant has a beautiful outdoor garden. We opted to sit inside as it was a bit cold. Upon being seated, we were greeted with a cup of beef consommé. It was soo delicious. For drinks, I’d recommend the mojito - they used Ron Zacapa Rum.
We started with the walnut salad, avocado/heart of palm, and beans/guac. All the starters were delicious. As for the main, we wanted the steak, so the four of us shared two servings of tenderloin thick cut 12 oz. The restaurant was kind enough to split the steak and sides into four portions - a lovely gesture. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the portion was very generous.
We were so full at the end of our meal, and the best part, it was priced very well. I highly recommended this restaurant for any...
Read moreThis is an elevated steakhouse with great ambiance and likely the best cuts, quality and prep of beef I've experienced anywhere in a restaurant. The portion sizes are honest without being gigantic, the service is high-end and even the parking lot has the feel of a deluxe city park, especially after dark with all the lighting features.
The only points for improvement are:
1.) The grilled veggie side dish was a bit small. Think 5 chunks of zucchini with a few peppers and grilled onions and was a bit too smudged with grill smoke.
2.) The staff were a little weak on English for a place that clearly caters to traveler/tourist types. Particularly, when trying to sort out the dessert menu, neither the staff not the English menu sufficed.
Ultimately, however, the steak is spot on, and that's what you came for. Stick with the meat and potatoes and you're in for a...
