Donde Mikel — Restaurant in Guatemala City

The simple yet amazing food ever.

I absolutely adore this place. It is conveniently located by the airport and all the happening places. The restaurant has a Spanish flare with its balcony seating on the 2nd floor and open kitchen where you see all the food is prepared.

The food is by far one of the best. Grilled Shrimps and tenderloins are my dishes and will be yours too. They are so fresh, you can taste the ocean on the shrimp and the field on the beef. They are perfectly grilled and finished with garlic olive oil sizzle. OMG... You will be missing out if you don’t stop by while in Guatemala City.

A hidden gem is the hot sauce. Not like anything I have tasted ever. The chef’s mother hand-make this for the place. So spicy with a hint of smoky chipotle... I can’t have enough of...

Today I wanted to eat Spanish food at Done Mikael based on their ratings. As it turns out, their menu had food that could be found at any other restaurant that is not Spanish within Guatemala City to include Cayala. They had the following: Camarones al aji, Lomo, Mero, Calamares, and Pulpo. This was a sad menu for Spanish Restaurant. I had the Camarones al aji and was good, still, Donde Mikel advertising itself, as a Spanish restaurant and I did not see it. I was looking for Tortilla Española and Paella and nowhere...

Well if you like your food soaking in olive oil and garlic and to pay a high price for it this is you place. The food is not gonna blow your mind but people made te place so popular that they think is the place to go. For the money youll spend here there are better places in Guatemala with food that actually will blow your mind and with chefs that actually think about the ingridients and how to combine them to make your experience unforgetable instead of covering up the food in olive...
