Hostal Sweet Dreams — Hotel in Panajachel

The room is okeish (stayed at the private) what is absolutely TERRIBLE. Is their service. Been traveling around the world for 7 years, never had a more disgusting, useless customer service. They overbooked all the rooms during the weekend and ended up moving us to their other hostel which is awful to a shared dorm with “only 8 other people” next thing we know there are 16 beds people are asking for their money back. There was a drunk guy snoring, cussing and literally sleeping with quetzalteca bottles next to him. At some point their “solution” was to give me a free breakfast… except my reservation already included breakfast 🤡. So yeah… overall would not recommend. Oh and bed sheets...

Nice and clean. Kitchen. Price is good for what you get. Breakfast is pancakes and fruit, and the staff that serves you is nice. Go to Sweet Dreams, NOT Dulces Suenos because they are different.

My complaint is the unethical front desk staff (young boy with a guitar necklace) trying to charge the full price as though you didn't pay the deposit. Check what hostelworld says you owe, and do not pay more when taxes are included. Hostel staff tricking people into paying it again when you book on Hostelworld or Booking allows them to take money...

For the price this was excellent. Roughly £9 for a private room. Good WiFi (not in my room but communal areas was fast). Nice and quiet. Nice rooftop with views too. Vibes weren’t always amazing though not super social for a hostel.

The shower didn’t always have hot water. This hostel was close to the zocalo but far from everything else and all the other hostels. I was constantly walking to see my friends.

Overall not amazing but the price made...
