This was my first time in Guatemala, and my first time in Panajachel to see the famous Lago Atitlán. I was not disappointed.
The hostel organized transport from the airport, and we're very communicative during the booking process. They were also very communicative when I arrived at the airport. Please do note that the transport is an independent company from the hostel.
The hostel itself was beautiful, it was well decorated and easy to find just before the end of Calle Santander. Whilst deep into the main road of Panajachel, it wasn't too noisy and that's with the new years celebrations too. Naturally, the most startling part was the fireworks.
The staff were helpful and friendly. They helped to point out some great places for breakfast.
As hostels go, the most important part, THERE WAS HOT WATER! The shared bathroom was clean and tidy and regularly had changes in hand towels and floor mats. Liked - The location is top. Nicely done with the plants in the courtyard The Parrot is funny. Room with bathroom big enough.
Disliked -Some of the employees have such a bad mood that you almost feel uncomfortable. Cockroach in the kitchen, even after telling them, in my opinion, nothing was done against it. Kitchen is tiny and the sink was always full of dirty cups that the staff put there. Shared bathrooms just too small. When sb showered everything was completely wet incl floor so it just seemed very dirty - our room was upstairs and bathrooms downstairs, only accessible via spiral staircase. This is a pain in the night with a toddler Terrace upstairs not finished, make the whole very...
