overall, the experience of staying in this hotel was pretty average and does not deserve an exceptional rating at all. The hotel was missing all the special touches which we have seen in other hotels where we have rated 10 out of 10. we told the staff that we were there for a special occasion (honeymoon) and they did absolutely nothing to make it special at all. we were really disappointed with this hotel and the treatment of the guests. although this hotel has a spa, it doesn’t matter if you are staying in the presidential suite and how much money you spend, you are not even given access to the spa. when you want to get access to the spa you’re told that is completely fully booked. upon arrival, we had to hang around as our room wasn’t ready, there was no welcome drink, which I would’ve expected when we were paying so much money to stay in the presidential suite.
when we did finally come to check-in, there was no explanation about anything at the hotel, no understanding of where the roof terrace was, no explanation on where the breakfast was, what time breakfast was et cetera. No information about the rules relating to the spa, we were simply given a key and taken to a room and left there. as we are on our honeymoon, and as we were asked by the hotel to let them know if we were celebrating a special occasion, I was hoping for something special when we arrived in our room. Absolutely nothing, except for a bottle of wine which we would’ve had to pay for. we were planning to hike a volcano the day after check out and I arranged for us to use the spa. Upon returning from the volcano tired from hiking up and down3500 meters completely covered in mud and wanting to have a shower and use the spa, We were told that because we haven’t booked a massage spa was not available for us to use and that the spa was fully booked.
I then asked if there was any way that we could have a shower that we were willing to pay for in an unoccupied room, and the lady who appeared to be the manager of the hotel, turned her nose up at us, and told us that she was fully booked and could not help us, then brushed past to help the next guest. this happened at 1pm. checkout is at 12 and check in was at 3pm so for sure there were rooms we could have used to pay to have a quick shower. she just chose not to help us.
in the end we had go to to the kitchen where our luggage was being stored(!!!) open the suitcase in the middle of the hotel, go to the toilet and try and freshen up in the sink.
After having paid so much money for two nights in the presidential suite of the hotel, and being on our honeymoon, I would have expected something a bit better than to be told no sorry we can’t help you.
don’t waste your money at this hotel. there are much better options at a lower price where you will be treated much better and have a better overall experience. of all the hotels we booked, this was...
Read moreIt was my husband’s and I first time in Guatemala and we stayed at Los Pasos while in Antigua. We absolutely loved the hotel. The staff were so friendly and hard working, they were on top of everything. The property is beautiful and clean. The rooms are big, clean, the bathroom was spacious with lots of hot water and most importantly AC in the room. I have back surgery and hotel beds are always a hit or miss for me and the bed at this hotels was very comfortable. Every time we would leave for the day we would come back to a clean bad and fresh towels. I was in love with the hotel breakfast. Their coffee and pan dulce was delicious and I looked forward to it every morning. Breakfast was included with our stay which was a huge plus for us as it was one less thing to worry about. The typical Guatemalan breakfast was what I ordered everyday as it was delicious and big (I am a big breakfast person) and we ate at the beautiful terrace every morning. While there my husband and I booked a couples massage. The Spa is beautiful and for the price of one massage in the states we got two so I considered it a great deal. The lady’s were lovely and we both loved our massages. The hotel also had a reasonably priced laundry service which I took advantage of after getting muddy and dirty after a hike of one of the volcanoes. Antigua felt so safe and everything we wanted to do was close by and walkable. We did not try the restaurant inside the hotel as there were many spots to eat in town but it was nice to have the option. If you are debating staying here I...
Read moreLos Pasos was a great cute hotel situated in the middle of touristy Antigua. Its entrance is tiny but once you walk through that door it is actually quite a large hotel. We came to Los Pasos with low expectations but our expectations were blown out the park. The service was amazing as all of the Los Pasos employees were very kind and attentive leaving us cute little snacks after cleaning our room. Los Pasos was in a perfect location in Antigua since it was so close to all of the typical attractions like Central Park and many cathedrals. There were also plenty of restaurant all around Los Pasos. Los Pasos also had a great view of Volcán Fuego from its beautiful terrace. One of my favorite experiences from Los Pasos was eating their delicious breakfast which was included with our reservation. They had all kinds of meals ranging from traditional Guatemalan chapins to a typical French toast but all of their breakfasts were equally delicious and fresh. The room we had in Los Pasos was amazing as we had a modern TV with airplay and you could log into all the streaming services you could ever need. The shower in Los Pasos was amazing too with 2 rain showers with amazing hot water. OVERALL, Los Pasos deserves 5 stars for their delicious breakfasts, amazing service, breathtaking views, and prime location so definitely give Los Pasos the love it deserves when you...
