Hotel Casa Ki'iil, San Juan La Laguna — Hotel in Sololá

WARNING: BED BUGS!! Do not go to this hotel!! CHINCHES!!!

My family and I (also Guatemalans) stayed here for a night and we woke up with bites ALL OVER our bodies. We checked the mattresses and they were COVERED with BED BUGS, THEIR EGGS, AND THEIR FECES.

What is even worse? We told the owners and asked for a refund and they refused to give us our money back for the night, because "we stayed there and ate their breakfast" (we first thought the bites were mosquitos at first, then went to eat breakfast before realizing the situation). Can you believe that? Apparently, it is "unjust" (owners word) for them, because they have to return us money for reserving a hotel room with BED BUGS. Really? We paid for a room with NO bedbugs, basic hospitality expectations from a hotel. On top of that they admittedly said they fumigated the hotel before, so they KNEW BEFOREHAND that it has been an issue. We even offered to play for the breakfast at least, but they will refused.

Instead of a relaxing stay, we left with stress, lost our money, and had check every piece of our belongings and suitcases. I understand bedbugs are a worldwide issue, but given how we were treated, I do not recommend this place to anyone. Should you decide to stay, CHECK THE BEDS AND ASK IF THEY HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. We stayed at the room above the reception. I regret not taking photos, but I was too stressed to think about that....

it was great place for my first stop on lake Atitlan - the place has amazing location: right on the lake, with great view , quite and calm family, who running this place , very sweet and welcoming , and airbnb host was also very good 👍 my room was very basic ( I knew it when booked ) - only 2 beds , small wooden bench. toilet and shower outside ( shared with others ) - and sometimes in the evening or morning it was cold to take shower there 🙈 bed was comfortable with new bedsheets and towels drinkable water always available 💙 outdoor kitchen is huge and has everything to make simple dishes they served really tasty and different breakfast every morning 👍 the view from dining area and their own pier is amazing even wi-fi worked everywhere around hotel very well 👍 for the price in March it was...

Really enjoyed my stay - Lauriano was very responsive and really helped me reach the property. He was friendly and made me feel very welcome. Juan Pablo was also exceptional as he showed me around town and made suggestions for restaurants and other sights. He was so accommodating and really helped me feel welcome. The rest of the people working at the property were also so nice.

The room itself was beautiful and had an incredible view.

I can't thank Lauriano and his staff enough! I had an excellent stay and wouldn't hesitate...
