Looking at this hotel from the main square in Debrecen, it looks nice, but as soon as you walk through the doors that changes. The foyer, although pleasant, is tired, especially the check in desk area. As for the staff behind in check in, they are rude, look fed up and barely out of school. Any contact with them seems to be met with rolled eyes and a sigh - maybe because they are expecting a (justifiable) complaint. I only used the dining area for breakfast but it is a wonderful looking room. The breakfast unfortunately was unsurprisingly not good. The egg and sausage was barely warm and limited cereal on offer.||The bedrooms are the biggest issue. Although the rooms had been cleaned, the mattresses had no protectors on them, nor the pillows. It had a ill-fitting thin sheet on the mattress that came untucked as soon as you sat on the bed and by morning I was laying on a bare, stained mattress. In 38C heat we did have an ancient portable aircon unit that sounded like a helicopter taking off in the room and it had little impact on the room temperature.||The bathroom was extremely poor with sharp screws sticking out of the walls, a shower head that sprayed water in all directions and a general odour I would thought only reserved for a Turkish prison's toilet. I was there for 4 long nights and not once was the room serviced. Plenty of cleaners in the foyer in the morning, I counted 6, but perhaps all suffered from vertigo so unable to venture upstairs.||With a lot of investment this hotel could be the jewel in Debrecen's crown, but for now it's no go zone and you'd be foolish...

The room walls were paper thin and the french speaker in the room next door enjoyed a variety of dance tracks between phone calls and some online videos that weren’t pop music I’d guess! ||The truth is this place is cheap - very cheap and it’s far from great but honestly at around €40 a night it’s not costing much more than a campsite so I’d actually stay again just for the fun of it all! ||All reception staff were helpful, dining staff at breakfast served no useful purpose and offered no guidance on - for example - where cutlery is, what food choices were etc - instead just asked your room number then go chat! Busy doing nothing personified! ||Go do it - you’ll never...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel over the weekend. We had booked two rooms and arrived just after midnight. On arrival at the hotel, the front doors to the hotel were locked. We kept knocking and knocking and no one came to advise us to use the back door. On phoning the hotel, we were advised to use the back door. A simple sign on the door would suffice. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. One of our rooms on the 4th floor had been refurbished and was lovely but the other room we were given to the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor, was very clean, basic and functionable. Sockets were loose and light bulbs missing, the mattresses were very uncomfortable. Unfortunately we were not aware that part of the hotel at the back, was a nightclub till all the loud loud music started, the room 350, vibrated and there was no getting away from the noise. At 4 a.m we couldnt take the noise any longer and went to reception. Luckily the receptionist found us a room on the first floor towards the front of the hotel. The hotel is set in a beautiful location and as its title must have...
