One of the best hostels and have a great price. The rooms are good, bathroom great. Maybe the kitchen should get a update (small and 1 sink) but have more things that others. The hall before was amazing, beautiful and cozy, now is more cold and sad, maybe more comfortable to the big groups of people from tours but I missed the other.
In the hall or reception, you can take beers in any time, with happy hour. The price minimum is 800kr (this is Iceland). The breakfast cost 1500kr and for me don't pay off, just to make some sandwiches, coffee and juice. In the basement they server it. The rest of the day you can stay there but is only plugs in one of the walls. Have TV also. Internet is ok, not great. The have also a room to save suitcases and lockers. Also have access to invalid people in wheel chair.
It's not very loudly and the people normally is so friendly. Staff is nice, mostly the cleaner team, they make...
Read moreSo you land in Reykjavík airport. Your jetlagged after being 12 hours in the air from a flight originating in San Francisco. You step outside and it’s not really very well signed where the buses are that will take you to town- Even though you just bought a ticket on Viator that will take you into town. There’s a huge line of taxis – don’t take them unless you want to pay about $200. The buses are only $100 for three of us, including all our luggage.
Icelanders are very helpful. For example, I wanted to go to the blue Lagoon and had bought tickets before leaving California. It was going to be tight making the connection to town, dropping off our luggage, then running back to the correct bus stop to catch the ride to the blue Lagoon. Instead at the terminal, they rearranged it so we went straight from the airport to the blue Lagoon and stored our luggage at the luggage room at the blue...
Read moreSome or the other reviews seem to be for the airport. But this location is a bus terminal. Well not exactly - the word terminal implies a structure built for the efficient and safe movement of people onto transport. This is more of an unmarked parking lot where you chat with drivers and wander trying to read destinations (which might even be on printed paper taped inside the bus windows) untill you bump into the correct bus. Fortunately, the people are nice and there are only about 10 busses - so you will probably find the right bus in a minute or two. As a humourous note, when you approach the "terminal" the road is narrow and has a sharp turn. So sharp that the buses cannot enter the area it without hitting a curb in the middle...
