Definitely one of the best 'cheap' accommodation I have stayed in whilst I was visiting Reykjavik. It's situated very close to the city center of Reykjavik, so if you stay here you can spend a day or two wondering around town just by walking around. If you are catching a bus or coach early in the morning, for a whole day trip far away, just ask the staff to make a takeaway breakfast for you. It's amazing they will pack your breakfast for you before you leave, complete with a whole bar of chocolate! So generous and thoughtful. The breakfast is also worth staying in to eat , for at least one time, because you get to meet other guests and you don't have to fight for the food to feel satisfied unlike some other similar home stays. Though I have been to Iceland, I wouldn't mind staying at this place again. The beds are clean, and they have free modern duvets which are not folded under your mattress, like the old style of making beds! Some accommodation still use to make their beds this old way in Reykjavik, really a right mess when you wake up!

I hosted a wedding in Iceland. This "guesthouse" had a false advertisement on AirBnB for a townhouse with 4 bedrooms and 8 beds with a shared bathroom. I invited my four friends to Iceland to enjoy my wedding and they paid over $1600 dollars for this townhouse apartment. When we arrived at the house we found out they had switched out the advertisement to a hostel with thirteen tiny bedrooms. that only fit two single beds and the shared kitchen was a sad shelf on a tight common corridor with a microwave. We had to argue with Airbnb for SIX hours to get a refund because the owner of the building had taken the money and gone on a vacation to Greece and was unavailable to be contacted. Definitely do not recommend this place as they are cheaters and liars. I have added pictures of the original entry and the bait&switch entry they changed it to after we booked the apartment. AirBnB took our side after sending in all details and issued the refund, which tells you everything you need to know.

Family owned and operated, fantastic location and hospitality, clean and quiet, very friendly. Full communal kitchen with a big common dining room. Although our room (#12) was comfortable enough for us, I advise asking for the quieter, renovated rooms on the lower level, as rooms 11 and 12 open to the lobby and kitchen, so high traffic. Pictures are of the gorgeous tenos of the shared downstairs bathroom /shower and rooms. Highly recommend, good value even in Iceland!

Our stay in Eric was quite short due to misinformation and poor conditions provided by the owners Billy and Georg. When booking, we asked for a renovated room with a sink two months in advance (moreover, this was part of the offer that each room has a sink and kettle). We were confident that everything would be fine. Upon arrival, we found that all this was missing. We were accommodated in a small room next to the common entrance, with a lot of old furniture and lack of any basic amenities. The duvets looked worn with many stains and the room was not cleaned because we found part of the earring on the floor. When we asked to move to another room due to the misrepresentation, the big nightmare began in the absence of adequate communication as they were ignoring our messages, namely by Billy who is dealing with all the clients. She was super rude to us in person, ignoring us and refusing to deal with this. It got to the point that we had to seek help from Boking.com, which managed to get us to pay a cancellation fee in order to leave. Keep in mind that breakfast is not provided with the excuse that it is a "pandemic" even though we all use a small shared kitchen and dining room and the same shared bathroom. At the same time, in the other hotel we moved to there was breakfast even during this same "pandemic". The only thing we got was stress, inadequacy, excuses and lies about the former "owner". I would not recommend this...

BED BUGS! Horrendous experience.

My sister stayed here 2 nights over New Year's Eve. After her first night she woke up covered in swollen/red/extremely itchy bumps all over her face and body. She initially thought it was a food allergy but they got gradually worse, and she ended up being admitted in Hospital where they confirmed the nature of her lesions and symptoms - bed bugs bites. She contacted the team at Eric the Red Guesthouse, warning them about the SERIOUS public health issue they were facing and explaining what she went through as a consequence of this (over 3 weeks of medications and over 3 months of skin treatments by her dermatologist - and ongoing). She offered to provide them with written and photographic documentation. However their answer was really vague and disappointing. They showed zero compassion and didn't offer to reimburse her either.

Please bare in mind that bedbugs can move from one site to another by traveling on items such as clothing, luggage, furniture, boxes and bedding. They can crawl about as fast as a ladybug, and can easily travel between floors and rooms in hotels or apartment complexes. Bedbugs don't care if their environment is clean or dirty. All they need is a warm host and plenty of...

The guest house had a hostel feel to it. I loved that it had a shared self catering kitchen so I didn’t need to spend lots of money eating out. |Cereal and milk was provided by the owner, and there was plenty of fridge and freezer space for guest’s own food. The kitchen is ell equipped but lacks a vegetable peeler, a straining spoon, a spatula and a masher. All things I use almost daily. So I had to improvise a bit! The dining room has an enormous table so we could eat with other family members whilst there.|The guesthouse was warm, in fact too warm. In the rooms we used we had to turn off the radiator. We stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay as we had to extend, and the owner made sure we had a private shower room and toilet both times (not all the rooms do)|The reason a star was lost was because none of the rooms seem to have any storage space at all. No cupboard, or drawers, and annoyingly, no shelf in the shower room. |Also, had our son not already been there when we arrived I’d never have found it. There is no indication on the outside of the building that it is even a guesthouse, and nothing to...
