Iceland’s Coziest Atmospheres (Part 2)

The soup of the day (Mexican soup the day I went), (classic plain) sourdough, and spread combo was delicious! The counter person let me try half and half chicken salad and paprika hummus spreads, both were great. The sourdough is the real star. I'd want to come back and try more varieties of sourdough and soup and spread, the pastries also looked amazing. I looked up this place because Te & Kaffe serves their carrot cake, but they only had full size cakes not slices when I visited at the end of the day. My only disappointment was the soup was warm, not piping hot, which I prefer. But will go back again for sure!

Delightful discovery in Reykjavik today. We were looking for a place to grab a bite for lunch to accommodate both the vegan and non-vegans in our group and came across the Brikk cafe. YUM! The vegan sandwiches of sweet potato, pickled mushrooms, pickled onions, pesto, and a garlic aioli on artisan bread were excellent. I had the chicken sandwich--tender bite-sized pieces with a light barbeque sauce, arugula, pickled onions, and a bit of garlic aioli on the same hearty bread. The combination was just delicious! Bring an appetite...the portions are generous. Highly recommended!

Stepped in this bakery since it was close by and had good reviews. The ham & cheese pastries and croissants were delicious. I also took away a loaf of sourdough bread which was quite tasty with a nice crispy crust but a very chewy center. It didn’t have a very heavy sourdough taste which is what I like. The icing on the cake was an amazing Nutella cinnamon roll (pictured) which I feel like was made with croissant dough, just YUM! Very nice sitting...
