As we were planning for attending an official event at Goa in Feb, 2023, we booked the Bay Boutique Hotel near Calangute beach on double occupancy AP basis. Assurances were given for a comfortable stay. However, the series of surprizing and bitter experiences started from the time of Check-in itself. There was just one bath towel available, that too was stained. Upon enquiring, the casual remark came that all other towels have been sent to laundry. As we had a glimpse of the washroom, to our utter surprise, portion of the ventilation window was broken, which made a peek from outside very easy. This could be such a big concern, particularly for a lady. When the same was brought to notice, again a ‘Damn Care’ attitude was displayed. On several requests, a cover with card board paper was fixed. Next day shifted to a different room. Although the booking was all meal inclusive and some meals were skipped by us as we had official meal outside, the response to the promised meal offer was very ambiguous. The staff in certain instances denied to offer A-la-carte items from menu and said that it’d be extra chargeable, although at booking time the agreement was not such. At the time of check-out although full payment was cleared, the bill was not provided on spot. The staff informed that it’ll come by the evening of the day. We trusted and left and the bill was not sent as promised. Several telephonic requests and follow ups were made but the matter was kept on ‘least-priority’ by the concerned manager. Finally, we had to re-visit the hotel two days later to ask for the bill. Again the same dialogue was served, ‘wait till evening’. When we opposed to the unprofessional attitude, the reception staff still showed reluctance. To our utter surprize, a lady who several times kept on claiming and boasting as owner of the property came inside reception area and engaged in loud, terrible, low-grade arguments. We were stunned to witness how come someone in hospitality sector can be so rude and behave irrelevant. After all the hue and cry, the bill was sent by email, which was actually a matter of just 2-3 mins. The property was not maintained well. Don’t get deceived by the good-looking photographs at various sites, as the overall appearance and feel have worn out over time and no proper maintenance was done. During our stay, many other guests staying at the same property also expressed their displeasure over the services and infra. Other than immensely unprofessional services, just to mention only a few of the downsides were: the room side door was not properly fitted to the sides, toiletries were not kept in bathroom before we checked in, room walls were stained, pool surrounding area with the recliners placed were shabby, untrained staff on better hospitality and empathy. If you want to spoil your vacation then go for it because the owner and the staff of this hotel is rude, unprofessiona and they disrespect with their guest. The food at the hotel tasted stale and had an unpleasant odor, indicating it might not have been freshly prepared. It left a lingering aftertaste, which was quite unappetizing. Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience due to the poor quality of the food and you will have to pay for that stale food. The cleanness of hotel was unacceptable and they made your stay very uncomfortable. The behavior of the hotel owner/manager was quite disappointing. They displayed a lack of professionalism and courtesy, which reflects poorly on the establishment. Then you will feel uncomfortable to stay in that hotel. The hotel didn't offer a welcome drink or any kind of refreshment upon arrival, which is a common courtesy in many establishments and also you will have to buy a drinking water bottle from outside the hotel because they only give 1L person drinking water per day. Overall experience at the hotel is terrible and pathetic. Please don't spoil your vacation because of this hotel. There so many options available at the same location just do some research.
