Tanu's homestay — Hotel in Jodhpur

No wi fi reaches the rooms. We had 3 double rooms , one on each floor. The walls of rooms and the walls of staircases are filthy. No one cleans. They sit around watching TV. Bedding , washed out and shabby, did not look or feel fresh, we slept on out scarves with out clothes on. I slept on my yoga mat. I could not sleep in my room as no ac. No toiletries in any room as stated, just a small toilet roll. These rooms had family pics and kids toys in! The family slept of the floor of an empty room while we were there! First night my son had mouse in his room, he left next day. We had just washed some items and were so tired we stayed the second night and the mouse was in our room just as we got settled. Every light switch was filthy, as walls were, so many germs and bacteria built up. I felt ill, I couldn’t wait to leave, I got very sick the day of leaving. Please don’t be fooled by other reviews, this place is completely over stated. I do not recommend it and I am a seasoned traveller in India. I stay in hostels a lot. Positive: All in all it was a very pleasant stay. The room and the bathroom were very clean, the bed was comfortable and the host super nice. He helped us with recommandations for good restaurants and was able to give us information about the area. On the next day after check-out, we were allowed to stay in the room since our train was coming very late in the night. They even offered us plates and cutlery for our own food.. Negative: Small details, like soap, were missing. Also the restaurant closed quite early, so we couldn't have dinner after 9 pm anymore. The noise was very Indian-like, so be prepared for dogs, a family with baby next door and loud chatting...

It was a awesome stay at Tanu Guest House . If someone wants to have a feel of real Jodhpur ( old town) then it is highly recommended to stay once at this place. Dont expect any 5 star corporate hospitality here, but what you will get very cordial and nice down to earth Rakesh who manages this property. He is always at this toes in any hour of the day to take care of you . The property is in very good location and you can walk down the lanes to reach Meherangarh fort and other tourist spots .
