Read moreVery clean. Hot water plentiful. Convenient location, just steps away from the Krishna temple. Numerous eating places nearby. Spacious rooms. Lift available. AC works. Filtered water available in the hallway. There is a common area down the hall for mingling with other guests.
Cons were making a reservation was difficult. We were told to call back after January 21, and upon doing so, were curtly told "we will have the rooms". No reservation number. Upon arrival, they did have our names down, but just for one AC room and we requested two. They thankfully had another room available, but without AC. We managed ok, turns out AC was not required for comfort. English language speaking is not necessarily at a fluent level here. No soundproofing. You can easily hear hallway noise and temple events such as chanting on the loudspeaker. Fortunately, the clientele tend to be the quiet sort, and the chanting could be a plus, but I wasn't expecting it at 5 am one morning. Ceiling fan had 2 speeds: gale force and barely moving. The higher speed masked outside noises. Security is good, someone is always at the front desk. The electricity goes off when you leave the room (except for the air conditioner..) which can make recharging batteries difficult. We were glad we brought a power strip. Little in the way of mosquitos noticed. We would consider booking again, it was a good value. One star off for difficulty in making...
Read moreTwo main things that I would like to highlight. First is the location. This guest house is very very close to the main temple. You could just walk out and reach the temple premises in a couple minutes. Secondly, I personally loved the rooms. They are spacious and well kept. Hygiene is maintained with twenty four hours running hot water available. The surroundings are also peaceful. With the rent being charged, I feel that this guest house is a good choice to stay at, if you are coming to visit Udupi and especially Krishna Mutta. One thing I would like to add though, is that unlike the usual hotels and such, you cannot order in food to your rooms through services like Swiggy or Zomato. I also find it a bit bothersome that the establishment has rules against allowing a bachelor to rent a room here. (Not every bachelor is doing what people think we do behind closed doors smh). These are the only reasons why I gave this place four stars instead of five. Otherwise it is just too good to be true no? :D
Overall, it's value for money. You also have a small eatery just outside the entrance where you can grab an early local breakfast made freshly every morning. I recommend the buns and coffee. The area is also surrounded by small shops with really good variety of local goods. Hopefully your experience is good, if you choose...
