Hotel Grand Paradise Inn — Hotel in Kodaikanal

We visited Kodaikanal with family to spend 3 days holiday and booked 3 deluxe rooms in this hotel (28th May - 30th May, 2016). Before arriving I have received almost 5-6 calls from the hotel and been requested not to cancel in the last moment as I have booked through booking.com and have option to cancel in the last moment also. We arrived around 1:30pm and on arrival we have been told that they don't have hot water supply in the hotel for 24 hours. It is available only for morning 3-4 hours. As we had kids and children, we requested them if they can arrange something at least for them as the weather was cold and they need to take bath after 12 hours of drive. Front desk person was so rude that he even went to an extent of suggesting to cancel our booking and look for other hotels. I was literally confused why they started behaving like this and soon realised that all of a sudden on that particular day due to some political rally, there are additional demands of rooms. Staffs are very arrogant. Restaurants attached to this hotel are horrible. They are only concentrating on outside guest rather than their in-house guests. We have been provided with 1 towel each room for entire 3 days. Refused very rudely to provide any additional towel. No drinking waters available in any rooms. After lot of request, they agreed to provide pet bottles that too as if its a favour done to us. The manager of the restaurant was drunk and started abusing us as we were slightly late for dinner (it was around 10pm). Bunch of jokers been appointed by the owner of this hotel. We are the frequent traveller and stayed in various types of hotel and never faced such issues or seen such ill mannered staff. Guys please avoid this hotel if possible or don't caught in surprise if you face...

The Hotel was too good some 30 years ago, now it lost its charm. Only advantage is its near to the lake. Here are some of the problems we have faced during our stay at this hotel in the month of June 22. Cons (Issues):

Morning 6 o clock when we wake up, there was no tea or coffee, there are two hotels downstairs one a veg hotel and another one non veg hotel. But the tea will be ready at least by 730AM and the morning food will start at anywhere between 830Am to 9AM. Oh god I stayed twice at this hotel, one during my official trip, because of this lazy fellows, I missed my lunch and went for a session.

There is no kettle in the room so that we can prepare our own tea or coffee. They can't even provide some sugar, tea, coffee sachet which is very common in many hotels nowadays.

I stayed with my family for two days and on these days, I asked them to clean the room, but they didn't, after we reached hotel, we were waiting in the reception while they were cleaning the room and they didn't change the towels in the bathroom. There are just 2 or 3 staff in the entire hotel to do the cleaning stuff.

Food - In the Veg hotel, they use "Used cooking oil" from the non veg hotel and they were using is regularly. I watched it while a staff from the non veg hotel is carrying a open bottle of "Brownish Used Oil" and carried it to the veg hotel. They might have thrown it, but they were using it on the dosas, etc. I got food poisoning and I Could see two more kids also took vomit. So I cancelled my third day stay and returned back.

I would not definitely recommend this place for families. The looks are good and the rooms look neat at the first instance but once u start staying there u will realize the mistake. The rates were exorbitant in the first place , for a room which can accommodate 3 people they charged 2600 INR per day. They don’t give towels neither no daily room service. The tap water was dirty and it was smelling terrible. On my second day of stay the early morning tap water that I got was muddy and it smelled terrible. Hot water supply is not constant as per the hotel timing.|The place was filled with flies in the morning and even rooms had them and that was more irritating.|The restaurant downstairs was also average and food was not good at all||Overall this place is off my choose for ever and for all my friends. Firstly just because it is a season, they cannot cheat people with such room rents and if they do so they the services has to match which is not the case. ||Please make sure if you are planning to visit Kodaikkanal with family then make sure you check into a proper hotel and booking is done well in advance. Be careful with drinking water to. If you are going as bachelors then this place is ok for a single day stay as long as you can cope up with the issues I have listed above.|The hotel was too noisy and the reception staff were not at all bothered to manage that neither understand how guest react to such instances.||Overall this place is not even worth a single star in my opinion and hence please be very careful when u chose this place for your visit to...
